As you guys know Nvidia will launch a GeForce GTX 780 Ti next week. Which is going to be a fast product alright. But that release will still make the regular GTX 780 a little pale compared towards the...

The 780 superseded by 2 better cards already. Great for evolution but i wouldnt be happy if id bought a standard 780 for top dollar tbh.

There is never really a right time to buy a gpu but i feel its too close of a release to the original 780.

ASUS GTX price went up $120.00+ USD this morning on Amazon.jp

Really pleased about this news because I just lost a GTX 780 purchase when the price went up $120.00+ USD (in Yen) this morning on Amazon.jp

Last week (and all last month at least, the ASUS GTX 780 price was around $745 USD (in Yen) on Amazon Jp.

I put one in my shoping basket, and browsed some more for extra items (Zx Evo Headset considerations), and then heard about the NVidia cards price to be dropped for the GTX 780 range; so I held off going to checkout; however, this morning when I went to look at paying via the advertised price drop, BUT I found that Amazon have JACKED-UP the price to $867 US. :bang:
    http://www.amazon.co.jp/ASUSTeK-GTX780%E3%83%81%E3%83%8...

    Question is;-

"Where can I buy this card for a `proper` price (which popular site) where they will POST it via Air Mail to Japan (not a US military address)? :ange:

Every site I tried from California to China do not post to Japan.

Amazon Japan, you are Kraaayyy-Zee crayon users. :pt1cable:

Take my advice from personal experience, while buying a card from another country might cost less (Be sure to check your own countries import laws for import prices), when you need to exercise the warranty for your product, it will be nothing short of a nightmare.

Hmm, I think the prices has remained the same (some cards have come down a bit actually). I was actually pretty surprised by the 780 prices when I was looking into purchasing one a month ago. They are generally double the prices of the 770 (which sells for around 40,000yen) for some reason.

This is the cheapest 780 on Amazon right now.

ASUSTek NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 GPU (67,120yen at the time of this writing).

Sites like http://kakaku.com are helpful for comparing the prices of a certain product from different Japanese websites.

You might want to try eBay and see which sellers ship to Japan (provided they don't use expensive shipping options). If you are buying from outside, you run the risk of having to pay import charges (eBay lists these when applicable or have them included in the shipping price).

Seriously? Why does anyone need more than a 770 or 280? All the games are just ports from Console, and even if there are games made for PC, what game uses the 7XX anyway? NONE! Bored with all these new cards coming from Nvidia and AMD, there are no games that use graphics like in that Unreal demo vid using a 680!

A lot of people use higher resolutions than 1080P, and a lot of others enjoy having their eye candy turned all the way up. That's without going into sustaining 60 fps or those with 120hz monitors aiming for 120fps. The 280X and 770 are still very solid cards, but they're simply not powerful enough to get the most out of even 1080P gaming.

it's like cars, people buy cars that go faster than 250Km/h and use them on road with speed limit of 90Km/h.

:) i won't buy one of those card but i like the fact they exist, competition is alway good.

This is how i've felt since the 6xx series. I get that tech is always moving, so no point in waiting opinion, but im not to keen on these 'same chip so soon re-releases'.

These guys are taking the p*** if you ask me.

That's a completely incorrect analogy. My GPU is nearly always 100% maxed out. I'm afraid you just have a completely different view on PC gaming to 90% of other people on this forum.

Correct! While there is no competition, Nvidia have been able to churn out mid-range stuff and charge top end prices for it, now they're actually having to put some effort into staying ahead although I'm sure they're sandbagging Maxwell for the same reasons.

I agree with everything you are saying except that part about higher resolutions and a lot of people using them. Steam survey shows the percentile is minuscule.

Welcome to Guru3D then. Here you'll find the tweakers, enthusiasts and overclockers. Nuts like me do use such a higher res. And here I'm not the only one. Many have a rig with better specs than me. And many more are planning to get one. This market only exists, because of people you'll find here and on similar sites. This is a multi-billion dollar market.

    bf4 with 200% resolution slider on a 1080 screen = 4k gaming.

Damn. I think that the best way to go if you are using a 1080 screen will be the GTX770 or the R9-280x. Anything higher seems like a waste of precious and expensive resources in the 1080 sector.

many people use 120hz screens though, 3D etc., i'd say 290x /780 is good to go for 1080 at this time, but bf4 you can take it very high the hardware stressing even at 1080, eclap and his x2 7950s for ex.
