Well, one of the security components of Android starting with 4.3 is SELinux. SELinux is an NSA project, but unlike other NSA project, SELinux is completely open source released in GPL and is open for all the review. The NSA and Google ported SELinux to the Android OS under the SEAndroid or SELinux for Android initiative to bring mandatory access controls to the Android OS to beef up security.

It's actually what my main paper for my degree is going to be on lol.

Details on SELinux for Android in this paper: Security Enhanced (SE) Android: Bringing Flexible MAC to Android

".....that the US intelligence agency has the capability of tapping user data from the iPhone, devices using Android as well as BlackBerry, a system previously believed to be highly secure."

I will take 300 pics of my d**k and my a*****e and put the in a folder named "Classified".. Let them enjoy them. :D

In all seriousness, nothing to worry if you don't have anything on or do anything wrong with your device.

And those who might take it a little more personally. Nothing can be done about it. Spying is an ancient thing and is not going anywhere anytime soon.

I could even say with todays tech, it only becomes tremendously easier for those who do the spying.

I'm not Ok about this, but lets be realistic.. Do you think petitions, demonstrations, going public with this on media etc etc, will have any effect? Maybe just a minor one. Maybe...

This is real good, am considering it :) :wanker: As it was said before me, spying is an ancient thing, it's been here for thousands of years and with technology it is only getting easier. But the question is, what is world going to do about it? Cause all the fuss about Snowden is slowly fading, and I'd hate to see the US of A getting away from this like they do with everything.I know it's not only them who is spying, but I think that they have put it on a new level.World should finally realize that they are not the strongest country anymore. We have China, Russia can even think of European union as superpower.India might join pretty soon.About time we show them the finger. :puke2:

That's a terrible excuse and a fallacy at best, because there's never going to be a smoking gun on privacy violations. It's all nickels and dimes.
Not only do I vehemently disagree with that statement but it also says more about your personal attitude than the actual status quo.

We either do something about it or end up, at best, significantly delaying the onset of an advanced global civilization.

What exactly can anyone do about it?The problem with voting out a government is the new one inherits all the same agencies and programs the old one is involved with and the same dilemma about curtailing or shutting them down.At what point in this day and age can you say something isn't necessary or prudent? It is a difficult question that can't be answered with a simple shut it down or you can't do that.Terrorism is a real thing that can't be ignored and is using modern technology that must be monitored in some way.Difficult for sure.

It will have an effect....and not quite as small as you seem to think. "Intelligence" agencies will try even harder to hide their illegal activities....or get laws passed to legalize those activities while removing more rights....

Exactly what criteria are you using to base your opinion of what a "superpower" is?

Wait, I assumed they were already doing this. ...Or at least it would have been strange if they were monitoring everything else about my life except for my cell phone conversations. :)

Ok, lets all sign a petition, go public and go out in the streets and demand them to stop monitoring our personal data. I'm sure they just come out and say:

"People, please accept our sincere apologies from all of our Agencies. We understand now that it was a terrible and unethical thing to do and will seize operations globally. Effective immediately." Oh please. Wake up.

I really hope since they are doing this, I really hope, that atleast they are monitoring pedophiles, possible murderes, criminals, terrorists etc.
I see no reason for any "spy" to be interested in your "Hey honey, can you pick up the kids?" or "MOM, I'm in the basement. Bring a fricking tuna sandwich and a light soda."

To all the things I said above, I believe if we concentrate on our LIVES, raise our kids to be better people, improve our work to get a raise or find a better work for better paycheck, spent more time with our kids/family, love our wifes better and be better husbands/fathers, recycle, plant a few trees here and there, take better care of our polluted planet, sounds A MILLION times better than going against some freaks that wants to read my texts messages.

Think about the people around you and not strangers far from you and what they are doing. That's sounds like a really stupid thing to do and non logical.

    "Dad, can we play?"
"Not now son, I'm settings up an anti-spy device."
    "Ok dad, maybe later??"
"Can't do son, I'll be out with some people demanding the Government Agencies to stop spying on you and me. Its for your safety son. Trust me."
"Ok dad." *Goes to his room.

Be better human beings first and then you can worry about the other things that have 0 as in NONE effect in your everyday lives.

Families/lives are getting destroyed/separated every day, people kill each other, kids without parents, school shoot-outs, hit and runs, drunk accidents, suicides, the economy, the pollution, world hunger, death is all around.

Improve some of the above and then you can improve your "privacy" and "personal" data. You gave those away when you bought a phone and started using it. Same goes for the PC.

Want your privacy to be secure? Stay home, close the shutters, remove the phone line, no Internet access, no cell phone, no nothing..

But wait, then you have nothing that needs to private about. Neither a life.
