New drivers ?

what makes me laugh is that guys comment on FB saying "well done AMD, good drivers take time blah blah blah". They've been working on this how long already? this guy thinks they will improve on something in the next 2 days? He thinks AMD will magically improve the driver in the next 72 hours? They'll find something they couldn't see in the last few months? lol.

I don't care either way, I can wait, but it's a bit of a fail tbh. AMD promised this driver in June, then they said 31st of July... now a delay. Standard, really.

Well if they want to take their time at least don't set a date...

This will be another Diablo 3 release.

With what they've shown in the prototype driver, I don't think it's possible that this driver will disappoint. There's hard scientific data behind what's happening here.

 

IMO, they should've released whatever they currently have as a beta release with the note that there may be a few issues that should be ironed out in the next week or so.

 

Not surprised one bit... I called it that they would delay it when they first announced it. I would not be surprised if it even slips into next week.

Also... people forget that this is something that should not have even been an issue A YEAR AND HALF AGO! When they first released the hardware. Just cause there is some late adopters that just got into the HD7XXX series, doesn't mean that the people who bought a long time ago have been waiting for a while.

 

I can agree with this; on the other hand though, I'd rather have a proper driver than a rushed one. Wouldn't want fan controllers to be disabled or some damaging overvolting incident to occur or something

Agreed, would you rather have a proper driver, or a broken POS like what Nvidia have been chucking out for the past few months.

 

I'd rather have a POS Beta just to test how things are going and know what to think, and then a proper WHQL driver that just *works*.

 

I think we'll have it by Friday at the latest. Several reviewers already have it in hand. I don't expect it to be game changing on my setup anyways since I use v-sync + fps cap + triple buffering on all my games already but I'll give them a shot.

WHQL means nothing, as you can easily get a broken POS WHQL driver as well, like Nvidia's 320.18s

 

I'd rather people exercise patience... But that's just some fantasy. Anyways, I'd much rather have a working driver than something that will give me issues, waste my time only to have to reinstall new drivers released a few days later. Fingers crossed that "later this week" means tomorrow.
