Not to sound like a douchebag but AMD seems to have more games optimized for their cards and if anything it might get even more one sided in the future.
i am still on a 580 op @1920x1200. been running company of heroes2 fine (i use sweetfx for the AA). but yeah upgrade soon for me but i'd wait it out in your case...
Started the war now lol I love how Radeon stepped up their game with the drivers and the increase in performance if I didn't play borderlands 2 so much and almost all physx games I'd go Radeon. The 9000 series intrigues me I'd like to see the marks it puts out. Wish the 770 had 3gb instead of 2gb. Well you could go 770 4gb and then sell it when Maxwell comes out. I haven't checked yet but last week the Zotac 4gb was 439.99 and offered a splinter cell collection pack from Zotac not just the blacklist. Also found out even redeemed you get conviction as well with the nvidia gift.
not really a fan of nvidia... but i would rather spend money on a 7950 or 7970 if u going that route amd much better value for money
but it is half the price and it is decent but if money is no object then go for what ever u want... the only problem with nvidia the price is ridiculous!!! amd do great cards for great price and software is better and i was a nvidia guy
Are you thinking of the 7970 ghz and the 7950 boost? A standard 7970 needs to be at 1000 to trade with a 680, and the regular 7950 is normally trading with the 660ti. Top end over clocking gives AMD their edge of up to 10%, but over 1150 isn't guaranteed. As for the 7990, who even bought that thing? It's crap until the fix the frame skip so the numbers it puts out are meaningless.
yeah i am looking at the sapphire OC edition models 7950/70 so they got good clocks 7990 is good but the drivers are still going to get better!!! anyway not for me cause i bought a new card and i am happy so yeah not a total geek LOL!!!
Explaining it to you is futile. He currently has a 670 adding another 670 is cheaper than chucking the 670 and buying two 7950's let alone 7970's you keeping up so far? Currently CF is still buggy as hell however SLI is from my experience been a breeze no issues except for the occasional older game with no profile but they never need more than one 670 anyways.

Nope, you're just a stubborn person who's hard to deal with. In reality, we couldn't care less how you run your games, but we try to be helpful, as that's why we generally reply in topics made by new members. Don't take any of my replies as being offensive; I'm just being honest, like I usually am.

The 600 series, nope not much. Limited memory bandwidth and high prices. The 700 series, good moves at the prices they got (up to the 770) and I personally like the 780 for what it offers as performance, but not for the price. Overclocking goes to the AMD cards. Champs. 600, 700 series and Titan all have somewhat crippled compute, in varying degrees (particularly 600 and 700). That irritates me because I fold 24/7 on my GPUs. As it stands, the cards with the highest performance / price ratio are still the AMD cards (particularly the 7950 / 7970 at the high-end), but that's stating the obvious.
You're way way way out of touch. Obviously you haven't looked at a review or benchmark test in at least a year. The first gen 79xx series were released in Jan 2012 with Tahiti Pro/XT cores and most had Elpida memory. The 7970 was clocked at 925/1375 and 7950 at 850/1250. The 7970 competed w/ 670 and 7950 was positioned between the 660Ti and 670 due to less than stellar performance and the drivers sucked. In June 2012 a second generation of 79xx cards were released with Tahiti Pro2 and Tahiti XT2 cores, these all had Hynix chips. The 7970 GPU stock speed was now ~1000-1050mhz GPU and 1500mhz memory, AMD nicknamed it the Ghz Edition. ALL 7970's since then have ~1000mhz stock clocks, slight variation between brands. They are ALL Ghz Edition GPU's. The name is just a marketing gimmick. Since June all 7950 Pro2's are clocked at ~950mhz. The Boost label is just BS because every single card since June runs at ~925/950mhz when switched to the 2nd boost BIOS. Do you really think people buy a 7950 just to run it at 850mhz when they're spec'd at 950? No of course not. Any cards you may see selling with slower clocks like 800-850mhz are old stock and are prob sold by names like VTX. Then ofc 12.11 drivers came out with huge fps gains. So now the 7970 trades blows with 680 and 7950 with 670. That you think the 7950 competes with a 660Ti is pretty ignorant tbh. An overclocked 7950 at just 1100mhz will match an overclocked 680 and an overclocked 7970 will beat it. Decent overclocks aren't a given as you rightly pointed out, however I challenge you to find 1 7950 owner on this forum who could not hit at least 1100mhz. And if we're talking overclocked 79xx vs stock 6xx there's a lot more than 10% difference you speak of. If you have any doubts about that go look at the scores posted in 3DMark 13 thread vs the GTX680. In fact look at any review from June onwards, HardOCP has a revised test between the 7xxx and 6xx you can check out. Guess which color came out on top...
the thing for what it is i like the way amd do there coolers on the card like with the copper heat sink really looks cool and amd runs cooler then a nvidia card i find the new nvidia cards have not got that cool look like they use to have and yes overpriced don't like the nvidia control panel software prefer catalyst much easier to tweak not saying they make bad cards most likely good cards but i think amd are better and value
They might run cooler generally, but at the expense of noise. The two companies have different targets with their stock coolers. Nvidia prefers low noise but lets temps go up, often into the 80s C (something which I'm not entirely comfortable with). AMD prefers lower temps, so you get 73 - 70s C but at the expense of higher fan noise. And we all know how those blower coolers sound. When someone switches over from one brand to another, this is generally the complaint. The AMD card sounds much louder. We do mention adjusting fan profiles, but sometimes certain people pay no heed. I don't use either control panel. 3rd party apps like RadeonPro for me, thank you. We have got to admit that Nvidia's coolers on the GTX780 and GTX Titan look very very very sexy!
