Hello Everyone! I am in a bit of dilemma. I currently own an unlocked HD6950. I am wondering if it is a good idea if should buy 2 more 6950's and unlock it for close to $500 and run them in 3 way Crossfire. Or should I a)stick with one b)get one more c)wait I game at 1080p. I need 30fps avg atleast, I am getting 20fps avg in new titles. I play only with max settings and good aa. Thank you all in advance.
30fps crossfire is crap. lower your graphic settings and stick with your 6970 or spend 300 bucks for a 7950 oc or faster card.
I went for a 7950 when I wanted to upgrade from my 6950 OC edition a couple of months ago and it was defo worth it, everything is noticeably quicker, things like MOH was quite choppy at max res and detail with the 69, but the 79 is now over 100fps maxed, pcars only about 10-20fps more, but noticeably a lot smoother, same with rFactor2. Also, means no need to upgrade PSU, cos if you go 3 way your 600W ain't gonna cut it.
Stay away from 6xxx crossfire it will leave you very pissed off. Lower your settings a bit or OC it more my 6970 in my backup rig does really good at stock what games are you getting bad frame rates in?
Almost every new title whenever I enable SSAO, tesselation or SSAA Thanks all of you. I will lower the settings and stay for a while, until pirates islands or maybe volcanic islands crossfire. Thanks once again.
Any super sampling will bring most cards to their knees and tesselation is known to be bad on the Cayman GPU.
