well, the good news is i took the "second card" and put it in on it's own...and it seems to be working fine, so the card isn't DOA or anything like that

gonna try popping what used to be the first card as the second card and see if I get lucky

motherboard is EVGA x58 SLI Classified

like Mitzi said, check your PCIe settings in bios, the 2nd slot could be disabled.

It's much better than I thought (according to G3D) but it's only 7c better in this review:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/GTX_780_SC_ACX_Cooler/30.html

    5c better in this one:

    http://img.hexus.net/v2/graphics_cards/nvidia/evga/GTX780SC/graph-09.jpg

The Windforce Gigabyte HSF is slightly better though. It's still MUCH better than I thought it would be.

Just had a text saying DPD will be delivering my card between 2:30 and 3:30pm this afternoon. Can't wait. I'm literally sat here wishing the day away! :)

780 is a really nice card, veeeery close to titan's performance :) which one did you get, reference one?
I still need to try increasing voltage, because without that max i was able to oc - 1063/7008. Not bad, but it can do way more :)

You'll be missing out on a good chunk of performance, whatever the resolution.

My EVGA reference card (i.e. not superclocked or ACX) just arrived 10 minutes ago.

I've just opened the box to be bombarded by a surprising number of 'extras' which I don't get from the likes of Zotac and Point of View: a nice EVGA sticker, power leads, a DVI adapter and even a poster as well as the expected manual and driver CD. No free games though which an odd omission in a premium graphics card bundle but in all likelihood I would have had the game(s) anyway.

The card is really nice looking and feels as expensive as it costs due to the metal rather than plastic shell. I'm going to install it after tea later as the Hull FC and Rovers derby game is on Sky in about an hour. I know once I start playing around with my new toy that I won't be able to stop! :D

Lucky you, we in the states have to wait until Monday if we order online even overnight. They don't ship on weekends.

I cancelled my GTX 780 ACX order with Amazon when EVGA said on their forums that the 780 FTW should be released sometime in June.
