Windows Has Stopped This Device Because It Has Reported Problems. (Code 43)

Hi!

As the topic says I get this error code suddenly in device manager on my graphic card. It started on Sunday with some blue screen and then that the graphic driver has recovered. Later on the error code came up after rebooting the computer a couple of times together with some strange vertical lines over the screen. First I thought it was the driver and uninstalled and downloaded the latest drivers for my Geforce 8800 GTS and did a clean install. Nothing happened. So I reinstalled windows 7 and nothing improved. Now I thought my graphic card had broke so I borrowed a Geforce 8800 GTX from a friend and the same problem appears but now with some other lines and much worse picture in windows. I updated BIOS and still get the error message in device manager and the lines on the screen. There is no problem with my monitor.

I will post some pictures how it looks like on startup, when windows starts and in windows.
In bios the screen looks fine with the 8800 GTX but with the 8800 GTS there were some letters missing.

Looks to me as if your 8800GTX has bite the dust mate. Do you have a spare GPU handy you could pop in and try out?

Try remounting the GPU, turn off the PC take out the GPU and check the PCIE slot for dust and anything that could of built up around or inside it.

Can you boot into safe mode and uninstall the GPU drivers?

EDIT:

On second thoughts it could be your motherboard seen as you tried your friends GPU. You could try your GPU in his PC...

 

but as you se in the first pictures "starting windows" is okey. Shouldn't that be corrupt to if it is a problem with the motherboard?

 

Not necessarily, when the Windows logo appears, its just Windows loading up your files (ie programs, drivers, etc) once the drivers are loaded up thats when Windows starts and your problem begins. Before the loading of Windows your PC is literally running off the BIOS on your motherboard, until Windows loads your stuff up.

 

Ok :/ I can't understand how the motherboard can breakdown without even touching it

Have you cleaned the dust out of your computer lately?

Take a can of compressed air, remove any expansion cards (graphics, NIC, sound card, etc) and remove your ram. Blow out ALL of the expansion slots and memory slots. Reinstall everything and see if the condition improves.

I've actually had dust cause this same problem in the past....

I can fix 8800GTS "died"!!

 

Now I have switched GPU, Motherboard and Power supply and the problem is the same.
Can it be the HDD? This is so strange

 

No but yes the problem found is videocard. Have you try to bake GF 8800 GTX?

 

op, it would help if you told us what psu you're using. also artifacts can be caused by overheating. what temps do you get with that card? might sound silly, but have you checked the fan is spinning. we need all the information in detail if we're to help you.

 

I don't have any doubt that the 8800 GTX is died because I got to seem same artifacts on my old 6800 Ultra AGP (november, 2006) and also old 8800GTS 640 (one day before new year 2009).

 

Memory? Run memtest and see what happens.

 

imo that is a gpu or mobo problem.

I know. maybe the other gpu was bad as well? I've seen weirder things happen. it's hard to help the op without knowing more about his new parts etc.

I had exactly the same happen to me about 6 months ago. artifacts and code 43 error it was my gtx460 I had to RMA it. When it happens look in device manager to see if it's disabled your graphic card. When I contacted Gigabyte and told them they just said RMA it.

 

VRAM (videocard and not memory system) damaged.
