I can't get this game to stop stuttering..:bang: I did have this running smooth with no stuttering on the first day when i installed it......so i thought it was a windows net framwork update so i tried reinstalling windows and it didn't work....so this shows it's not a hardware problem...like not enough vram or memory...because it did work fine for a day. I don't understand why i am getting this.. No matter what i try it wont go away and run smooth.. Are other people getten it? This is a mission.....now....:3eyes:......must find a way.......:3eyes:
game has always had some problems. you can try turning down shadows to see if that helps. are you on an SSD?
Try turning off HPET in bios, a lot of people say that HPET is making games microstutter. I don't know if it will help on GTA, but turning off HPET stopped microstuttering on a lot of games I played. Hope it works for you bro!
Try this create a txt commandline.txt and put it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV <<< main gta4.exe folder now add this line and only this line -memrestrict 629145600 HIGH TEXTURES (1Gig+ Video Cards) <<< i found this the best last time i played it. -memrestrict 650117120 -memrestrict 681574400 And use lower shadows, night - medium or high normal - high
made it a lot better.........almost smooth as butter....only time you get a hiccup is when you're in a high speed chase. The famous memrestrict and restrictApp combo. Put the following code in your GTA Command Line: -memrestrict xxxxx -restrictApp 0 Replace xxxx with your VIDEO CARD's memory (vram) multiplied by 1024 squared. For example, if you have 512 megs it would be 512 x 1024 x 1024. my fix is......make a......"commandline.txt" ............tex document....then put in it... -memrestrict 1073741824 -restrictApp 0 fix for 1024mb vram.
This is actually interesting. I don't have stuttering problem. But I fiddled around for fun and GTA4 happens to be installed on my PC. Before I had these in commandline.txt Code: -norestrictions -nomemrestrict -percentvidmem 100 I made the changes, according to your post, Now it looks like this. Code: -norestrictions -memrestrict 6442450944 -restrictApp 0 -percentvidmem 100 The value 6442450944 comes from 6144MB x 1024^2 The difference I notice is that higher VRAM usage. I play GTA4 at 4k resolution (3840x2400p) with ENB (KBL1974). Before the commandline.txt change, VRAM usages hovered around 1.5~1.8GB. After commandline.txt change, VRAM usages hovers around 1.9~2.2GB.
Performance seems little bit better. But that could be placebo. Anyway, here's VRAM usage after the change.
Have it on the PS3, runs worse, lol... Try blowing up several cars or having a huge firefight with the cops, you will find the framerate drops well below 20 on consoles...
Yeh, i have it on the PS3 too. Frames drop below 30 a lot..Plus it's blurry looking compared to the PC.
