Doesn't work for me either. That CRU app seems to want to actually force the resolution (my monitor complains about it being unsupported). The original AMD Downsampling java app kept my monitor at my max res, but someone scaled the image for downsampling.

I was on the other hand able to up my refresh rate from 60Hz to 75Hz on my native res (1600x900) with this tool, and it didn't catch fire :p Kinda neat :)

So any reason WHY AMD decided to block this?
They got any plans to put one in CCC or just to be ****s towards us?!

Not too sure really. Monitor still seems to be working fine after a day.

Maybe it's because by using downsampling you could basically get around the DirectX 10/11 SSAA limitation for non GCN gpus.

Does anyone have a Windows 8 compatible tool? CRU doesn't seem to work, that or I just don't know how to use it. This is what I got:

However, once I set it and reboot the machine, my maximum resolution caps at 1680x1050, which is my monitor's reported maximum instead of the custom resolution I set.

I tried using this guide: http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4512526&postcount=167 but it doesn't seem to work.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

@deltatux Did you make the changes for every tab? Usually there two extra tab or more.

Just added to the other monitors, still a no go.

What driver are you using? I'm using Catalyst 13.3 beta 3.

turn off EDID detection in CCC/display properties and enable unsupported resolutions.

If not, may you please provide me a link to a guide to do this?

Thanks for putting in the time and effort, however, as this is a modification to the original file, admittedly trivial, I am not entirely sure if the software author would approve and therefore can not include it as a replacement.

If you could get the author's permission from the linked site, I would be more than happy to update the links.

Disabling GPU scaling would mean that the GPU is rendering the image at the full resolution in use and no further modifications to resolution are conducted by the GPU.
