Well, I think I have fixed my problem as best I can. I just had to play around with MSI Afterburner to raise the temp allowed a little and increase the fan speed. Without an overclock I am getting nearly 18,500 in 3DMark 11 and while it may still be a tad slow, considering I am running a 980X at only 4.0, I guess I am probably somewhere near or in the ball park. I have a H80 cpu cooler and use to run my CPU at 4.2 and may raise it back, but I dont think the 200mzh increase will noticeably affect my 3DMark 11 scores that much. Thanks for the assistance and suggestions that I got from the board. I think next year I am going to buy a whole new system with SLI Maxwell cards from someone like DigtialStorm and just get the very top of the line system and be current for a year or two. I will likely give my brother my current system. Again thanks for the help, I was going insane for awhile and thought I had a real cluster going but I think I am about or near about right now.
I've been playing with mine at stock settings and loving them! Soooo powerful. Now I'm gonna see what kind of OC I can get.

Great comparison benches, thanks for that. I did a bit of comparing of my old 680 SLI @ stock vs. my new Titan SLI @ stock. Here is what I got: 3DMark11, 680 SLI: 3DMark11, Titan SLI: 3DMark Firestrike, 680 SLI: 3DMark Firestrike, Titan SLI: Heaven 4.0, 680 SLI: Heaven 4.0, Titan SLI: Unigine Valley, 680 SLI: Unigine Valley, Titan SLI: Those results are actually biased against the Titans. The 680s are EVGA Superclocked, and stock is quite fast for them, whereas the Titans are EVGA reference models. I'm still working on OCing my Titans, so far so good!
your 680 sli scores seem a little low what was the boost clock running at while doing those benchmarks? cpu speed?
I forgot to precise that both graphic systems were oc to the max (+20% for the GTX 580s and +30% for the Titans)
Boost was 1176. CPU should have been 4.2 GHz. I did have to reset my BIOS yesterday, hope I didn't goof and run those before resetting my CPU OC. I don't think I did, but I can be absent-minded at times lol. My 680 SLI did better with OC and modded BIOS. Those are stock speeds, stock BIOS scores.
Can't get it much higher, didn't do too well in the chip lottery with my 2600k. It takes 1.36V just to get it to 4.4
c1: It's ok to push them that high?? I'm a bit new to enthusiast gaming PCs. My friend who taught me how to OC my CPU said to never exceed 1.4V for it.
Perfectly okay also if you haven't bump your ram speed up as well made a 400 point difference going from 1600 to 1866 for me and I'm on an i5.
Been that way for 2 years. Little bit of degredation CPU speed wise an little higher volts to be stable. Lost about 100mhz on the oc and little bit more volts to be stable. You could set it at 1.4v and see what you can squeeze out of it
Which is perfectly OK? 4.4 GHz or pushing voltage higher? I'll also look into OCing RAM. Thanks in advance.
I raised my CPU speed back to 4.2 from 4 and it increased my 3DMark 11 score to 18,960. Its amazing such a small bump in CPU speed could increase my overall score by over 500 points.
Oh I'm all about higher CPU speeds, just want to know if I'm safe with voltages. In order to go above 4.4 I would need voltages of 1.4+. I have been told conflicting things about whether or not this is OK to do. If it helps, my CPU cooler is Hyper 212 Evo, and at 1.36V Prime95 temps climb into the 70s. I'm also going to look into RAM OCing, this is new to me. Thanks in advance for all help and advice.
You can go over 1.4V you just need to have good cooling to keep it in the mid 70's (that's my personal hot I know people will tell you higher but it neither here nor there) keep in mind any overvolting degrades the CPU just the higher you go the faster the degradation happens 1.4V just seems to be the sweet spot on average.
