Huh....that explains why that nice shiny copper surface I once had has become dulled and scratched up. Who knew. :|

Just curious... How noisy is the stock fan?

I didn't use it, but I've heard good things as long as you run the processor at stock.

From the reviews I've seen the stock fans on the TT Water Pro are quieter than on Antec's version. I switched my stock fans out for Scythe GT's almost immediately. I found the stock antec fans to be quite loud at high RPM. Mind you they do as as high as 3000, so it's to be expected.

On a side note...I was inspecting my cpu water block. There's a decent amount of damage to the surface (scratches). Would this cause increased temperatures? Would applying more TIM help in this case?

It won't do much unless the scratches are really bad. Not worth worrying about.

It needed another 0.5GHz to pass the 3770k by a couple of frames but compared to AMDs recent offerings its very welcome. Clocked to 4.5GHz+ and its a very nice performer.

Very nice, and smack smack i5! Its great to see the AMD FX micro architecture being put to more and more use. This is the direction the industry is going - multi-threading. We will only see more and more of this type of thing going forward.

Its too bad they didn't include any Bulldozer chips in this test. I bet they would be right in the mix, not too far behind their younger cousin.

so how does this cpu compare to intel 2600 when running emulation programs?

back when I had my 1090t, it had trouble running them at decent speeds.

Probably not too well, emulation heavily depends on IPC performance. FX does support AVX though, so it's possibly a bit faster than Phenom 2.
