I busted my CPU and motherboard being stupid (one listed in my sidebar is now broken), and now I've got about 550 to spend on new ones. What should I go for to get a good gaming computer? I've no specific preference towards AMD or Intel but I have a feeling AMD will give more performance on a tight budget. Specs: Radeon 5800 850W power supply 16G ram in 4 4gb sticks Cooler Master Hyper 212 WD 1TB hard drive
you have enough for a 3570k, mb and money left over for other stuff like a good cpu cooler and more or you can get a 3770k and a good m/b for that budget. if you live near a microcenter they have great deals on intel cpus
I live in China - all parts I'll have to order from newegg or something. I've taken shipping into account with that budget.
If you live in China I wouldn't buy from the US, it might be more expensive and you may have customs issues etc. Probably the best place to buy from is Hong Kong, assuming they have decent online stores.
I would go with AMD FX 8350 4.0ghz 200$ Asus M5A97 R2.0 100$ or ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 180$ Either way you still have money left over. And I think that's the best bang for your buck.
Depends on usage. Generally the 3570K is a better option if you don't already have an AM3+ motherboard to stick the FX in.
I agree. I have the 8350 and the sabretooth. If you go with an Intel setup, thats great too. But if you go with an AMD setup, this is a great combination.
