Hi, I have question regarding fan speed from pressing power button to entering windows, because my fan is off during that time. I use MSI Afterburner for controlling the fan speed in windows, but during boot graphic card is setting it at 0%. It scares me, because when windows boots up, temperature is 75+. Temperatures in windows are normal 55, after fan cooles card. Is there a way to set that fan speed somehow to blow at certain percent?
You can adjust it in CCC. If you create a fan profile in AB set the fan to auto in CCC to stop it overriding Afterburner....
Since I have 120mm fan instead of default one installed in card with adapter. It thinks that its default one, and dont spin it until I enter windows. Am I missing something?
I don't know then, I assumed you had a regular 4870. dunno what sort of adapter it is etc... Go into CCC and disable Overdrive, this should stop CCC from overridinng Afterburner. Btw 75c isn't too bad and those 4800's run hot anyway. If it was 100c then you should start worrying.
I made something like thishttp://www.xsfans.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=46_31&products_id=778 in which I plugged 120mm fan. CCC and Afterburner works only when windows start, am I right?
Yes but before that the card reads the fan config from it's BIOS, so it should be spinning. Did it work with the original cooler?
I had a 4870 two cards ago (then GTX 460 and now this 7870) and was also not super happy with the fan profile at the time, so I used a tool that changed the BIOS. I don't have it anymore, nor even the name, but since you are not afraid of modifications, and the tool was easy to use with a clear interface, you might search for it.
