i agree 100%, the betas are where the real good stuff is.

i think people are just antsy because its been over a month for even a beta.

We hardcore hardware enthusiasts tend to be a self-entitled lot

    lol

:banana:it's freaking awesome that companies have to wait so long for this whql certificate...i can;t stop laughing at MS...like they have the stable and certified os, they are famous for their BSODs and now their sad face in W8...really.? ffs!

Yeah, TBH I'm not expecting a heck of a lot with the WHQL certification... least of all, any tweaks for 5xxx series. But, with a new WHQL stamps a point in time where there can be (hopefully) tons of new fixes for them to muck around with with a new base to work from.

A certification, let alone a "timestamp" hardly qualifies as a milestone for a new code base. People are just too mindlessly used to receiving incremental updates for the heck of it, without putting due thought into what those updates bring and how they're beneficial to their use of the respective technology. It's an addiction for increasing (version) numbers that constantly needs feeding, nothing more really.

I think people are bitching because this is looking likely to be just a WHQL stamped version, with no real fix/change over the current beta.

WHQL drivers don't really mean too much anyway... just look at the driver(s) that Nvidia had that were WHQL-signed that disabled the GPU fan and caused cards to overheat :p

The "No driver" joke is so subtle and clever and hilarious hahaha

I think that infamous driver was out around when the infamous 5xxx series for Nvidia was out right? Those cards ran hot.

Any Ukers still awake and alive and kicking :D
i just woken up from a 4 hour+ nap and well there still not here hehe :D

I hope some of the fixes they do are global and intergrated into the driver and not game/profile specific or that would mean not all is fixes with all games. (im talking GCN architecture fixes stuttering frames syncing microstuttering ect ect.)

I mean there are lots and lots of games out there that are for me 100+ and 200+ fps but they still stutter ? i would sacrifice 50+ frames in those games for pure smoothness ....

oddly, ive had no problems with skyrim, other than atrocious frame rates on initial release...

The issues with skyrim are mostly when you add modifications to it like texture packs galore ect ect.
