how about the audio? its supposed to have some ambient sound (not properly downmixing from 5.1 to stereo)

There is a bug apparently but I don't have it with my Xonar DX set in 5.1

it can also be set (speaker fill) on other sound chips like mine tho it would be nice to actually have a proper sound mix

Man does this game have alot of secrets..
You have to be human and fight for the first time to get special stuff..
    I found a smith hidden...
Got a special sword from a dragons tail..

How do you get the PS3 icons to work?

I put it in the tex_override folder but it doesn't show in game.

    # enables texture override
    # textures in "dsfix\tex_override\[hash].png" will replace the corresponding originals
    # will cause a small slowdown during texture loading!
    enableTextureOverride 1

dsfix 1.8 is out few days ago, mostly a toggle between custom framerate to default framerate which may help in situations where unlock framerate causes bugs (such as falling out of the map caused by sliding down the ladder)

Just a question. I have a Intel 3.4 gb Ivy bridge CPU and a ATI 5850 radeon card. Dark Souls is a very slow to run at 3840 x 2160 (the numbers are probably wrong, but you get the number I talking about) at the highest settings.

It's smooth for a few seconds, then it's very slow. Then smooth, then very slow and this continues wherever I go in the game. Is this normal? Are there are additional performance tweaks that I don't know about?

    Can anyone help?

I have installed the dsfix and get this(I have even reinstalled fix and changed every thing to default and still the same issue):

As you can see 3/4 of my screen is missing...help!

Note that this only happens during gameplay not in menus.

Perhaps someone can help. I'm getting all kinds of slow downs in this game. I have a Ivybridge 3.4ghz CPU with Radeon 5850.

I'm running 1920 x 1080 but I'm downscaling from 3820 x 2140. For some reason I remember I was getting much quicker frame rates before I formatted my HDD ...

Reinstalled Win8, installed the game and it's just very slow. Any ideas?

May want to drop your downscaling a bit and adjust a few other settings on your dsfix file if they are turned up very high.
The frame rate does still tank in some areas like demon ruins, seath the scaleless boss fight and chasm of the abyss no matter what power rig you have.
