I am stuck in the libaray (i think) with those darn were beasts and I have no ammo, so have given up which is a shame. although I really do suck at the game! the book is good though. does anyone know any cheats to get me ammo etc. everything i tried online didnt work?
It's hella clear that you HAVE to preserve ammo. Head shots are the way to go. Shotgun is your friend. The hardest part for me was the tunnel where beast keep on attacking you and you have to blow that darn, other side of the tunnel.
It's also clear that the gunplay in this game is horrible. Main reason I've never gone back to it... it's just not fun to play.
Turn off advanced dof and run AAA instead of 4xMSAA: http://www.legionhardware.com/articles_pages/metro_2033_performance_guide,8.html
I have started playing Metro again with Amd 955 and Radeon HD5770 1280x1024 all max with no stuttering. The game is much better than I remembered when trying to play it with a dualcore and a 4870 I had the same flickering triangles with r_gi on, to turn it off and just follow this guide (last thread) : http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2167297
I kinda agree. Something about the way weapons feel in this game... I hate it. Doesn't feel tight at all. I finished this game simply because I enjoyed the atmosphere and nothing else. I'm not sure I'll get Last Light... Weird. With a single 680, I could play the game quite smoothly on Very High \ DX11 \ 4xMSAA \ 1440p. Sometimes I did turn it up to 1620p but it does drop in frames there. I'm wasn't pulling no 60 FPS but 40-45 feels perfectly fine to me. No interest in replaying it though now that I have 2 680s...
Librarians had this thing where if u kept still or something they wouldn't attack u. Been a while so I no longer remember the exact trigger but you can use this to simply kill them with a knife.
But I would. Metro is a gorgeous game (except the outdoor areas which look unfinished at times)... but a lot of the gameplay just felt meh to me. The weapons, and it didn't matter which ammo type you used. The rare good stuff, or the crappy stuff... it all felt the same. I didn't see enemies go down quicker with the rare ammo. They are all ammo sponges that seem to drop randomly. And the stealth, something that was advertised hugely... just is crap. There are times you can stand right in front of an enemy, kill another guy in front of him... and he does nothing. Others, throw a knife at a guy... in a dark corner by himself... a couple guys on the other side in a bathroom hear it and come to investigate. Visually stunning, gameplay wise... there's a lot left to be desired.
is a way to use custom settings instead of the predefine "veryhigh", "high", "normal", and "low" settings ?
Everything maxed out including advanced physx i got 60 fps but drops to around 40 fps at times but is still ultra smooth when it drops, I think this is the first game i would need to oc my gpu to really hit 60 fps constant which will take both cores to over 1200mhz. This game is definitely the most demanding game i have come across, Farcry 3 is no comparison to metro2033.
1600x900, my gpu. DOF is the real killer. I get 30FPS average, activated. Didn't check while deactivated. Sure as hell it would give at least 10FPS boost.
But it SHOULDNT. This game consists mostly of tight corridors. I'm sure that allowed them to increase the amount of graphical effects, but I'm shocked that such narrow corridors drop frames so low. 40 FPS is still fine for the most part... but yeesh. I expect a game like Far Cry 3 to perform a bit slow due to rendering and anti-aliasing tons of foliage (still slower than it should be)... but Metro is so confined. At least it doesn't skimp on texture quality. I hope the sequel is a bit more optimized. I'll likely hold out for a demo before trying it. I want to see if they tighten up the gunplay.
