Someone tested FarCry 3 with 12.11 Beta 8 and HD6990?

the buffered frames value, is that 1 as in ON or 1 as in one frame? dx9 is 20/30 with vsync off?

    caleb59,
turn off "Alpha To Coverage" - it implements antialiasing to vegetation...and it has bugged performance or it just demanding. Instead try to use default fxaa injector by some dude - looks better, implements antialiasing to vegetation also and has much better performance plus it applies AA to whole image. With "Alpha To Coverage = Enhanced" i have 3-10 FPS loss depending on situation.

"GPU Max Buffered Frames = 1" also degrades overall performance, cause it renders +1(2;3) Frame in VRAM buffer. It only useful with vsync, cause it compensate mouse input lag..if any

    kn00tcn,
"Vsync, GPU Buffered Frames = 1" as frame. Cause in FC3, Vsync = 1 = 60 FPS cap (2=30;3=20). But even if vsync at 1 frame (60FPS cap) there is a situations where FPS automatically fall down to 30 cap...and it came back to 60 after your leaving that bugged area. Without vsync i have normal amount of FPS on those areas - 45-80+

    In dx9 - both.

PS. dunno why, but neither "Fxaa tool" or "SMAA Injector" or "SweetFx" not working (for me at least) in FC3. Works only "InjectFXAA 10.7b by somedude".

    EDIT:
Also...i kinda figured out why i have BSODs and some CTDs in FC3 with 12.11b8 drivers - apparently, my video card does not want to work with current (1200/5600) overclocking while running on beta 8...strange.

fr33 - your 7850 is running at 1200mhz?? Is it on dry ice or something?? Volt modded?

AMD really should get their act together with multi-threaded rendering for their drivers, nv have already proven it really can help in CPU limited situations.

my MSI 7850 Power Edition chilled by default TwinFrozr IV cooler with default voltage...overclocked via CCC with increased OC limit :eyes:

ps. but yes, i have a secret ;)

Twin Frozr IV ?!!! woot !

One of these days I'll see if the TFIII can handle mining @1250mhz. :nerd:

    No secret here.. stock volts.

AMD said they have had multi-threading support since day 1. They just didn't support command lists and I think to date only one game uses it. But then it's the chicken before egg question, game developers not supporting command lists because AMD doesn't support it?
    - And according to AnandTech benchmarks, Civ 5 actually favors GCN over Nvidia. But then i don't trust Anandtech much anymore, I find their results often to be flawed and confusing, almost to a point I doubt they even play these games.

I`m still suffering from low GPU use during gaming

I can see 29fps and only 64% GPU being used even with Beta 8 in a few different games

Come on AMD, it can't be that hard to make a driver that lets us use our cards 100% power ?

Well thanks for that advice - IMO (checked by Fraps without recording of course) Alpha To Coverage doesn't reduce my fps that much as you mentioned - but if it is really AA then I leave it turned off...

Also I turned off "GPU Max Buffered Frames - 0" as you suggested and I noticed some fps drop so I go back to "GPU Max Buffered Frames - 1"...

My bug with DX 9 and 4fps still occurs - I've reported it to AMD support but I don't count on miracles...

I'm playing it on Alienware M17x R3 6990m, everything Ultra with Dx11, except shadows medium and AA off. Pretty smooth gameplay with no fps dropping.

^ Same issue here but only in FC3. Other games work fine.

There is one thing I'm not getting, why this game has two exe file? One is farcry3 and other is farcry3_d3d11, what's the difference?

I think MLAA is gonna give you a nice boost of fps instead of alpha coverage and AA. It doesnt require any injectors either.

It sounds like farcry3 runs DX9 and farcry3_d3d11 runs DX11. Kind of like how Saints Row The Third also has separate exe's for renderers, as does Hellgate London.

    Hippie Tech,
TwinFrozr IV is a stock cooler comes with PE MSI 7850. So...
    Plus, your clocks from 7870 with 1050Mhz default...mine 7850 have default 950/ 4800 Mhz...you have a better potential :)

but anyways, my secret is simple -
I have a lil geek brother and he is working in "hardware lab" in big retailer computer company. So, when I or he in need with some IT hardware, he tested it first before we buy it from his employer...of course, he will be fired if they knew ;) Particularly for my GPU...he tested video cards (for good OC capabilities) about a month before he found this one :)

Not for FC3 here. Even if you run other exe's or running directly from "uplay", it runs farcry3_d3d11.exe - look in processes explorer

Perhaps it might just be based on OS/driver support? As in, if your on XP or a non-DX11 card, it will run in DX9, but if your on Vista+ with a DX11 card, it will force DX11 mode?

Not entirely sure though; I don't have the game.
