hi there, i need some assistance in updating my graphic card's drivers, namely Mobility Radeon HD 5650, i checked AMD site, it gave me auto-detection tools or something that fails to give me the right drivers, looking up from Device Manager says that i already have the latest driver (but it is from 2010) and ATI CCC also don't help much

anyone knows the correct latest drivers for Mobility Radeon HD 5650?

If you just have a HD5650, grab the 12.10 from the AMD website. Uninstall the old ones from Control Panel, reboot and install the new ones.

If you have a HD5650 that has switchable graphics, then the drivers need to be obtained from your Laptop Manufacturer website, but installed in the same way.

Does it switch between the Intel GPU and AMD GPU? Easiest way for us to know is provide the make and model number, then we/you can look up the specs.

Usually its as easy as putting the laptop into Balanced power on the Battery. I have a Uni mate that has a HP laptop which switches straight away and on screen prompts. If in doubt check the spec

i tried to set the power into balanced and on battery, there is no screen prompt whatsoever and checking dxdiag while it is on balanced + battery still gives me Mobility Radeon HD 5650, but maybe i overlook something?

so here is what i did to update it :

    1. Uninstall the ones from control panel
    2. clean AMD registries using driver sweeper
    3. reboot
    4. install the file i got from http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx#1

but driver for display adapter is listed as having a problem (yellow exclamation), can somebody help me?

nvm it is fixed, but i found other issues :
    • my notebook fan is going haywire in a lot of occasion
    • driver date shows 09/11/2011 instead of 10/22/2012 (the date that update is released)
    • i don't have any CCC installed anymore (!)

is there anyway to fix those problems? thank you

oh and also for additional information, on the installation part, it doesn't show checkbox for installing CCC

    Bro try MY way ;)

    1. Uninstall ati catalyst install manager from control panel

    2. clean AMD registries using driver sweeper in ((safe mode)) and restart

3.enter safe mode again & open device manager -> display adapters -> your video card name (what ever is) and choose uninstall & choose delete the drive soft ware for this device

4 after that press in the menu list of device manager (( scan for hardware changes ))

    5. wait ... then something will show up called (( standard VGA card ))

    6. oky here is the important step

right click in you VGA CARD Name & choose update driver software --> Browse my computer for driver software ---> than choose let me pick form a list of device drivers on my computer

    7. choose standard VGA graphics Adapter & press next ... & wait to finish everything & done

    8. restart your PC & enter normally NOW YOU CAN INSTLL ANY driver you wont without any (((yellow exclamation))) OR (( BSOD)) or even (( yellow triangle ))) :p

BUT 12.11 beta 8 wont work & THE LAST UPDATE FOR your gpu is here
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=371079

    good luck bro :)

thank you, but i got another problem, after i done all those steps, when i try to install the update from http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=371079 the installer says it failed to load detection driver or something, can you help me with this one? thank you

nvm, silly me installing things in safe mode, it works now thank you! but the fan-thingy still not resolved yet, it isn't going as loud as it was, but it is still pretty noticeable that the fan is spinning like i'm running a program, which i i'm not, even when windows is idling

Make sure you have the latest chipset drivers installed. My manufacturer still has old ones posted. I have Intel chipset and found newer ones. It might help.
