No, is not related to MSI Afterburner and is a simple fix. In CCC force the clock to 300/150 and save this to a profile in present meniu naming it idle. Give a key combination for example alt+i.You can this way to make profiles for normal mode or overclock mode. When you are in 2D mode keep it on idle profile.

P.S. Don`t know but this should work in MSI Afterburner to not only in CCC

Could be a motherboard issue, that or poor driver installation, I've had motherboards that utilize SLI poorly for the problem went a way when switching the cards to a different one- his board looks to be several years old

I just sold my GTX 680 was sick of stuttering issues and bad drivers for the damn 500$ card. I just picked up a MSI 7950 twin Frzr oc edition and wow... super smooth! These drivers are great.

not that happy with this driver i got a oc 1270mhz on a 12.8version and now its freeze and i get with this driver 1150mhz not verry happy with this one :S

  6. Hows the performance though? perhaps these drivers perform better at 1150mhz compared to the performance you were getting at 1270mhz with the old driver

this driver on 1150mhz runs mutch beter with my old oc and older version i need to change some settings in bf3 and now i play the game max out but still i lose 120mhz on my core :S

  8. So its running better? Sweet. Maybe since the drivers are working better it has uncovered the fact that your original overclock wasnt as stable as once thought. If its running better then enjoy it bro. A hundred mhz isnt gunna do jack.

Yeah I'm not sure whats up with the GTX 6xx series, but the 680/690 stutters like mad.

Everyone I used stuttered and did not feel smooth at all. I can't speak for the 670 and under as I haven't used them. I don't expect it to be much different.

Looks like the scrapping of the monthly WHQL's is starting to pay off. :)

Glad I am not the only one.. It was beyond annoying. I fired up this 7950 and BF3 and its like butter. All this hate about AMD drivers being bad and bla bla.. old news.

hello sir. since you have the exact card as me, can you tell me what are your clocks, mem and voltages are? also, when im in idle in 2d mode, my temps are high, in the 50s. ive noticed the card runs on the same clock as if im in load in games. anything that i can address so that the clocks drop back down when idle? thanks

I have a MSI 7950 OC edition little different card. The clock is 880 and the mem 1250 (this is while gaming) Idle clocks 300mhz and 150mhz on mem. The card idles around 35c (its about 80f out here) I will have to check volt later.

Thought that ~50C idle is ok. Yeah, it's somewhat high but nothing "supernatural".
At least mine 6850 vapor-x idle's around 50*C with auto fan speed (around 30%). But during the idle Mozilla Firefox is always open and as far as I know it uses hardware acceleration or smth like that. Don't know how browser will perform with acceleration off and how this affect GPU temp :)

50c idle is not ok lol.. something is ovbiously keeping the gpu's clocks at full.

At idle clocks the temp should be around 30c. Probably less.

Lol, less than 30c idle? Keep dreaming! My case temp is currently at 20c, 6870 HAWK is 36-37c using the 12.9 Beta drivers. And it's cold as hell in this country at the moment...

    I'm not dreaming, I'm running a 28nm gpu !

My 7870 games at what my 6870 used to idle at, using the same cooler. eg. 30 - 35c

7870 Idle temps are 18-22c. :nerd:
