Muffy.. you're one of the brightest dumbasses around.. lol Can't even recognize I'm using dual core and DDR2 memory.. now that's fake for ya.. LMAO
Why didnt I see that, you must be honest because you have a dual core and DDR2 memory. You learn something new every day.
I was reading earlier about a program called START8 that seems to fix the start menu issue and lets you disable the hotcorners. I was thinking about getting it when I get win 8 . Let me know if you get your sound issue fixed as I have the same card.
I made my dad to upgrade Windows 8 on his Vista Athlon 64 rig... with only 2048mB of RAM. For £25 he was happy. I thought it would be funny. After a day of using metro, he worked out how to close it... which did kind of spoil my fun. Next he installed START8 (under £4). Now he's happy as Larry with a super fast PC. His office applications didn't work, but everything else did. I might upgrade later on, but for now my Windows 7 with XBMC is just too stable. I don't want to mess around with it.
you have win 8 driver im with recon 3d need wait until 30 November to use non beta driver win7 driver in win8: sounds like onboard soundcrad in 96hz 32bit win 8 beta driver in win 8: have high cristal not deep bass and not pefect quality like in windows 7 (im using mpc with reclock and madvr and lavfilter)
Thankfully the steam linux beta is launching in a few days so I can enjoy even better performance than w8, for free and with whatever startmenu I want.
Performance boost is hardly going to be anything more that 5fps at the most, not mention that thanks to the OS third party dev's out there that you can have whatever start menu you want on windows 8 - most probably the same third party dev's that work on the same stuff for Linux - which is most likely a windows style start menu.
I downloaded, installed, tried then bought Start8 this morning. It's a terrific piece of software and a steal at $4.50 (about £3 or so). As for my sound card; I got it working last week actually as Creative released a new driver on 25th October 2012, which I installed and found worked, then another newer one (ending in .2004) on 1st November 2012. Those don't seem any different from the .2003 ones but they're newer... and work... so I've kept them.
I have to agree with you.. functionality and all the rest aside, I just can't get over the UI change.. to me its counterintuitive and just smacks of "lets change things for the sake of changing them" so they can repackage under a new title of Windows 8 and sell. To me, the changes are not meritted when Windows 7 already works as well as it does.. its a tablet os trying to be crammed down the consumer's throat and I for one simply will not support it. The fact that they made this apple styled move and then also changed hotmail just because is inexcusible to me. The only thing it seems that companies hear from consumers is the sounds of our wallets closing.. I for one will not be putting ANY money toward Windows 8 or any affiliation of this dreadful OS. Don't care if its faster, don't care if its newer, don't care if it has better support for XYZ..
Good luck with that, hope it works out well for you. Regardless of what Gabe hopes/thinks, Linux will never be a viable consumer OS. All Steam on Linux is going to do is appease the extremely tiny niche of people that are willing to take the time to run and figure out Linux. The average consumer/gamer doesn't even know what Linux is, let alone bother trying to use it.
And I mind what you have done. His post was very reasonable, yours borderline delusional. Get a grip.
No mate, you cant join a forum and make that kind of post as your first post. Someone has to stand up for the forum, theres probably little that the mods can do or say. Notice that he hasnt offered any other help or posted in any other thread since, despite claiming to be very knowledgeable. If he really cared about helping, he wouldnt have just tried to change the balance of opinion in a single thread where a complaint was made against Windows 8. I have no problem with people liking Windows 8. I'm getting closer to buying it myself, the mods for it are bringing the features I like. My main beef is the lack of Aero.
Yeah sorry about my reply.. I was merely helping anyone understand my experience and share my current installation of Win8. Pro and my opinion about it.. good luck.. I'll post more as I use it more
I dunno, i'm starting to get the feeling recently that some people think $4.50 is baller money :3eyes: I can't even mow my lawn on a Sunday for that price. seriously, though I do have a big mower.
CyberDanz your post gave a headache reading it. You need to make better use of Paragraphs. You may have 32 years of IT experience but a simple editing of post would have allowed me and maybe others to fully read your post. I got annoyed after the first 7 lines. :0)
