I just went from a EVGA 295 to a xfx 7770 ultraclock for about 180$ and I am loving the performance. For the low cost and how well this card runs bf3 I am very pleased. I wasn't aware of xfx until now and I think it is a very good brand. Sevn reccomended

You'll come back to green eventually. They always do. That's not even really an upgrade.

295 has a lot of horsepower prob more than that card. Lack of vram is its weak point

Should have gone for the 7850 would have been a bigger jump in performance.

As long as you dont crossfire or sli any of the red or green cards, they perform the same. since dropping down to 1x7970 all my problems have disapeared.

I am on a tight budget and this card is much better than the 295. It is faster, and alot easier on power. And needless to say dx11 is a good +. I would of gone with a 7950 or a 6950good 2gb but I didn't have the money. This card was a good bang for the buck with performance of something like a 560ti. Do keep in mind this is a xfx version of the card. Being 180$. I wouldn't of gone with a regular 7770. This edition is much better

The fact that BF3 runs substantially quicker in DX11 than DX10 will be why your noticing a better experience on the 7770, and the small amount of extra vram won't have done any harm either.

Unfortunately you might notice that the 7770 is much slower than the GTX295 when running nearly every other DX9/10 game out there.
Most other DX11 games will also run much slower, but that will also be down to them having better visuals.

Not to mention I don't like sli cards, because in several game sli doent really help. My card is at 1100 MHz and it has a little more room to be Oc'd . It beats my 295 in benchmarks

I bought it at best buy, even on the xfx website it is sold for 180$. It plays all my games at max and I see no problem. I like the card and it perfoms well. It overclocks well and I'm not going to sell it

I was not trying to be an a$$ or anything just trying to point out you could have gotten a better card for the same money that's all. I have no doubt you will enjoy your card it should be alot quieter and cooler that the 295.

umm.. i have had 295gtx so i have my personal opinion about it. back when i had it, i scored 22000 in 3dmark vantage, which was a biggie...what i know is, 295 gtx was almost like 6950 but without dx11.. i dont think 7770 equals 6950.

congratz, you've spent $180 for 104MB of VRAM + DX11 and got roughly the same GPU power - WHEN SLI IS NOT WORKING AT ALL :3eyes:

    or in Voodoopower ratings:

Tier F Middle Mid-Range --(Plays most games at high settings @ 1920x1200 w/ 4x AA)
    Geforce GTX 295 1.75GB (DX10) -- 131 VP

Tier G Lower Mid-Range --(Playable at up to 1920x1080 with 0-4x AA in most games)
    Radeon HD 7770 1GB (DX11.1) -- 93 VP

though I can see there are aspects about this which one can like.

    Welcome back :D

You'll also find things quieter, cooler and much less power-hungry than with that old card, although like a few of the guys said, a 7850 might've been a better buy.

I get that you are happy with the card, but why the "flame baiting" thread title? As others have said, you'll see in other games that your new card isn't as good as you think it is. The 295 is a great card for it's age. Not saying that the 7770 is bad, but it isn't really a step up from the 295, other than having DX11 capability and that really isn't saying much when you consider the number of games that actually use it. Again, glad you are happy with your purchase. I just disagree with the thread title's implication.
