Which PhysX card next a 7970?

Hi guys I would Really appreciate some advise about which card to put for PhysX next to my 7970 (I have a i7-920@4ghz and the 7970@1200/1500)?

I was watching 640 and 650, for price and power consumpition the 640 was very good just 65w and the 650 85w but I'm not sure it's enough, I read that for high-PhysX in Batman AC was suggested at least the 460 (the 460 is more power than the 650)!

Every advise or consideration are Really appreciate!

IIRC, even a low-end card like GT 220, 430, 520 is enough for PhysX.

I see, but that review was with Batman 1 that is pretty old game, is the same situation with nowdays games?

 

Yeah a 250GT or above is more than enough.

 

Did you use even with Batman 2? Or new Games?
How much is the difference in fps between with and without 250 in new games?

 

I would shoot for something like a 460.

 

From what I could read 460 and 650 are almost same level but the 650 need just 65w (less than half of 460)!
Am I wrong?

 

same level of cuda cores? the 460 has far more cuda grunt than the 650 with about the same amount of cuda cores. the 650 is an entry level card. fermi cores run at 2x the gpu speed where as the 650 run at gpu speed. the cuda core count is very low for a kepler card. the 660ti and 670 have 1344 cuda cores iirc. with a 1500 watt psu I really wouldnt be worried about tdp tbh

 

Reading reviews and ranking chart in games they weren't so far each other!

Watching power consumption compared to performance 660 needs 107w instead of 140w and the 660 is Really better than 460 (the only bad point is the 660 costs double than 650)!

 

Thats because nvidia forgot to properly implement there naming scheme this round. 660 and up is pretty much high end all the same chip. 650 is ****e we could call it the six ****tey instead lol

PhysX performance scales with the power of the GPU. Using something as anemic as a 520 would probably reduce your frame rates. A GTX 450 and above would probably work just fine.

 

i would say 450GTS and above. a 640 or 650 will fit your desire

if you chose lower don't go with lower mem than 512.
