New unmodified image,I have just applied the lens correction and color aberration correction in Cs6,before it was too exaggerated.

    Camera Model: Canon EOS 550D
    Lens: EF75-300mm f/4-5.6
    Focal Length: 300mm
    Aperture: f/7.1
    Exposure Time: 0.0025 s (1/400)
    ISO equiv: 100
    Exposure Bias: none
    Metering Mode: Matrix
    White Balance: Auto
    Flash Fired: No

Nice picture, not trying to be rude at all, but that picture looks like its source was a cameraphone.
Is it because of some kind of extra digital zoom on top of the full length of the 300mm just really curious why it would come out like that?

I have cropped the original in CS6,tweaked it a bit.I didnt use any digital zoom. Can you explain why you think it looks like from a phone?

Ah...it's cropped from fullsize that explains it.

As for why i think it looks like..i can't explain any reason why other than it just had that generic cameraphone picture quality. Purpleish blacks, blurry/grainy even though it's iso100..etc

When you take an image of a small boat distanced 150 m from you with a phone with the same quality you are welcome to post it here, this will be around the next Duke nukem relase I guess :)

No need to be snide, i'm pretty sure he wasnt trying to mock your kit, offend you or anything and i think his critique is just to some extent.

If the aim of your shot was to capture the boat, then it was a success but in the process of cropping the image, you may have gone a bit too far as the image does appear somewhat blurry and the chromatic aberrations are very prominent. These are often the characteristics of your avarage cell phone camera so i can see why he might have initially thought the image had been taken with one because i did too. :)

Not sure where things are in CS6 but in my older version of PS, if you go to Filter -> Distort -> Lens Correction, you can try and fix chromatic aberrations from there with some sliders. This is also an option in Camera RAW if you shoot in RAW.

I upped the vibrance setting and maybe the croma aberrations got more prominent, but sure I have a long way to learn since I got the 1st DSLR camera 2 months ago.
Also it would be more fair to just say:hey something is wrong with the colors or whatever you think.
Btw,thanks for the tip,I ll use the chroma/distortion corrections next time.

Edit:I have uploaded an unmodified bigger version, just corrected the distortions and chroma abers. Before it was exaggerated.

Like I said in my first post I wasn't trying to be rude, was asking a simple question why it came out looking like it did, cos i seriously didn't know.

I wasn't trying to belittle or bash you efforts, but you got defensive either way after I simply answered the question you asked me of why I would think what I thought.

Is that not what I did? Sorry, next time I'll put a bit more 'think" into it.

Your new upload looks 100x better. Anyways to keep things going in the right direction.
