We are in the final design stages of the new website design. I'd like to invite you to have a look:

    logon: gurutest
    pass: gurubeta

Comments please. We tried to keep the old Guru3D feel as much as possible in this design. Also we are using the forums color pallette and gave the website a fresh more modern look in a style requested by many of you.

We are still wondering what you guys think of the width of the website, too wide or should we narrow it down a little more ?

Like! Quick loading, and a refreshing layout that still keeps the old feel alive.

    Nice, a cleaner look.

Under the downloads section you have large clickable icons with no text to say what they are (other than the mouse over).
Below them are the text links in a large group.
It would be better of both were present side by side or together.

large clickable icons with no text ? You mean the carousel at the main download page ? Or the button 'per' download page ?

The headers for the news section could do with some work to break the page sections up, so, using the same dark blue bkground with white text, instead of the reverse would balance the page.

It could be wider, but currently fits nicely on my phone, so win.

The top header...it needs redoing I think, maybe run a competition for this? I'm sure one the regulars would love to pitch in, and maybe you'll snag a few new members also?

All in, it's very nice but part of me thinks it's looking like a mix between old and new. Perhaps just new, because as much as we like nostalgia, you talking about graphical style, and if you mix styles too much, it'll look like patchwork.

    Much, much, much better.

My only suggestions is for major review articles (new Intel architecture launch, Nvidia series launch, etc) for the picture to be full width instead of confined to the left side. Also, the upper review scroller, can you make it scroll slowly by itself as well?

Otherwise, congrats on the clean looking website.

Clicking the Downloads link gives a lot of large clickable icons going down the page with no descriptors.
Below that there is the collection of text links for categories, all bunched together.

I assumed the text links were for the above icons, but they are the categories.
    The icons have no descriptors.

    edit:
    Ah I see why.
    I have scripting disabled.
With no scripting, there are no descriptions.

    edit 2:
    Aaaah, I see what happens.
with no scripting, 15 extra clickable icons appear above the page that is supposed to be displayed.
It looks like the page ends after the text links, but it actually starts below them.
So looks like the first set of clickable icons need removing when scripting is disabled.

I would make the article headings a bit bigger and soften the drop shadow a bit. Something like this :

Also, when you hover over the menu items the drop shadow is a bit harsh. Otherwise, good job! :)

Oh yes, much better than the last version.

One comment I'd have is the gradient on the right hand menu is unnecessary. Gradients are pretty "out of fashion" in web design these days and simply using the solid light blue from the left hand side of that menu would be fine.

    Looking good though.

Someone mentioned the banner could do with a re-work and I'd have to agree. It's not that bad but does look a bit dated.

I like it. Much much better than that hilarious previous attempt :)

And while you're there - FIX that big Guru3D.com image link on forums.guru3d.com (top left).
If I click the image reading "Guru3D.com", I expect to be taken there, and not to forums, where I already am.
