1.55v for 965 BE?

I googled somewhere that if i had a 965 BE then "1.55v is you."

I saw another thread on here that mentioned 3.7-4.0 was obtainable around 1.43v.

Im stable and all at 3.8/1.55v with temp of 40c (55c after prime 95 6hrs) (shouldnt get over 60c right?)

So the question: Should I drop the vcore till i find lowest stable setting, or start bumping up the multiplier for more performance since im already possibly wasting those extra .12 volts??

 

It depends on the stepping. If you have a C2 stepping 3.8 could very well be your wall. But if you have a C3, you're using way too many volts right now for that speed. You should only be breaking out that voltage for 4.1+.

One other point, even if you have a C2 stepping, you should still try lowering voltage. It's unlikely even that stepping would need 1.55 V to hit 3.8.

 

Okay, so if its c3 stepping ill try to go for 4ghz and possibly lower volts. if its a c2 ill just lower the volts.

 

Just for reference, my old 940 C2 took 1.41v to get 3.6 GHz P95 stable, which yielded 52-53c with an Antec 900/Coolermaster V8.

 

Its C3 stepping. Running Prime at 4ghz now, still at 1.55v but im going to lower it a bit and see if I can still get 4ghz.

 

I bumped it up at bit at that voltage.

Play around with the volts a bit more. See what the minimum you can get away with is. Also, try upping your northbridge multiplier for extra performance.

 

Just saw your post, I'll try upping the NB but it seems anything past 4.1ghz i get blue screen. Thats not voltage though right? That would be black i think. Possibly ram issue? Ive got corsair vengence 1333 (bit higher with NB at 206, like 1367 or something). Would messing around with the timings possibly fix that? If so, what should i shoot for?

 

To add to that, the volts for the Ram at 1.5v (stock)

 

So, I post and load into windows with no problems, when I run Prime I get BSOD (or freezes) after just a few seconds.

CPU @ 4.31/1.54v

You probably need to increase CPU/NB Voltage to around 1.2V. And I don't mean both, I mean that particular setting. It should be in there.

 

Still getting errors in prime, like immediately hardware failure detected. everythings fine with NB @ 206. I dropped the timings from 9-9-9-24-33 to 8-8-8-24-33 could that be whats wrong?

 

Try CPU/NB up to 1.3, then try increasing RAM volts up to 1.6 or so. Then a combination if nothing else. Otherwise, just stick with 206. It's not a huge performance factor in most games/apps anyway.

im thinkn it could b vdroop... iv got myn over 4,1 at 1.5v with load line calibration enabled.. it could b ram too... can you downclock it. i can in my bios, that way you can trouble shoot if its ram, or not..

 

I'm going to stop while im ahead. CPU @ 4.1/1.55v Prime @ 52c. Its a big improvement from where i started @3.8/1.55v. Tried all the suggestions but I think its two parts 1: CPU just maxes out at 4.2 and 2: RAM isn't up to the task im asking it to do. I'm very happy with this and thank you guys for your help.

 

You shouldn't go past 1.50v really....1.55v is too high.

Also the NB can be raised to 2400mhz without a voltage increase in most cases...I use 1.15v for 2800mhz.

Try lowering the vcore and raise LLC to Ultra High.

 

I'm going back for more...I want stability! I have RAM issues and I need some help.

To start I have corsair vengeance 16GB 1600

Stock is 10-10-10-27 @ 1600

Problem: I'm try to tighten the timings and I keep getting the .5 was expecting .4 or something. I tried more dram v and even cpu-nb v. Right now I set it to 1333 @ 1.65v @ 8-8-8-23, so far its working but those timings are loose when i start OCing the NB.
