RIAA and the MPAA have been rumored to employ hackers to take these type sites down. Just recently Demonoid was shut down due to a major DDoS attack. Not sure whom did this as no one is taking responsibility for it but the rumors are flying.

Also they have different laws over in Sweden as far as copyright goes. From reading some of the various threats about suing them they have different copyright laws than in the US and other countries.

To think that blocking one site will stop piracy is dumb beyond belief. There are millions of torrent sites. If they did shutdown Piratebay then Piratebay 2 would be open the next day.

Relax, he wasn't going to buy the game in the first place.

All of the extremely intrusive DRM software out there is legitimate enough reason for the community to exist.

My ISP (Nebula) has not blocked it yet, though I believe my mobile phone carrier has blocked it. Not that I care, I would never use it anyway.

They are trying to take down democracies, is that what you were infering? Because it seems to me they have been pretty successful at it. But that's a different subject :p

On topic: As long as police doesnt go an physically unplug the servers I don't think TPB will listen to anybody :p

And as far as being blocked we'll always have our Russian/Japanese/Egyptian/etc proxies :)

Well the US or just my ISP has yet to block thepiratebay yet I dont think they are going to because they do not care. I don't know if any one in the US is still downloading questionable content (ex old games etc) from torrent sites ever since the US passed that stupid ISP spy bill.

As long as proxies exist, TPB will never be blocked.

It'll be cool when all the people who make this "free stuff" can't afford to put food on their tables and look for other work and all you free loaders will have nothing left to pirate. Or at least worth pirating.
