Hey, I am planning on buying a laptop from the US. MY budget is $800 max. I play battlefield 3, can any one suggest any laptop that would run the game?

I have looked at the Acer Aspire V3-571G-6602 as this is well within the price range.
    ntel Core_i5_2450M Processor 3.1GHz (3MB Cache)
    4 GB SDRAM RAM
    500GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
    15.6-Inch Screen (1366 x 768 pixels)
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M(2gb)

Can any one tell me if this would run the game? Or suggest some thing else that would.

the 630m is bit faster than a 550m, which should be fine for bf3 in low settings.

on the other hand, I'm not really familiar with Acer, but what I've seen the displays and they're pretty crappy... and they produce a lot of heat.

Check out some Asus K53SD or something like that

A bit over budget, but a lot better.

Just over 6 months ago i got a laptop for $747 aud (hp dv6) with a i7 2630QM and radeon 6770m GPU, it can play bf3 fine on a mix of mid-high settings at 1366x768 no aa. Nvidia laptop GPU's may have better driver support but they offer a bit less performance per $ a lot of the time i found.

    There are 2 versions, 96 shaders = 540M; 144 shaders =550m; 3rd version to come.

I've got an Acer Timeline X with a 540M in it. It struggles to play BF3 on any settings. If you are buying a laptop just for that game, look for a different GPU. The 630 isn't a whole lot faster than the 540

I think at this price you won't really get a brilliant display but I shall look at the ASUS.

How is the HP I know a few people who complain about it heating up the place where you rest you'r palm, even during regular browsing, of course this was in 2010. How is the new one?

I guess from a little research on the net you can play on low using the 630m. I guess a 640m would be a lot better.

640m or 650m is going to be a ton better.

I would honestly advise saving a tad longer to get one of them.

I would say that this is too far above 800 though

for 800 you can build a pretty solid gaming desktop with alot more horsepower than a laptop, but I assume that you have your reasons for needing a laptop

I had a Dell XPS laptop with an i5 and 550m (144 shader version), and on LOW settings 1600x900 I averaged 30-40FPS on BF3.

It is playable, but only for casual play.

Cold to the touch when idle, never feel much heat even when gaming on the top. Just gets a little warmer.

I second - got my laptop in SIG with 6650m (assymetric crossfire just received update with 12.7b so it's utilized in dx 9 games now too) its usually at least +10% faster with use of 6520, usually more. Picked it up for a little over $400, but built in monitor is low quality. usually using as a desktop at home anyway, works good for my uses haha. Can play bf3 single player high settings for sure at 1366x768, not sure about multiplayer with the STARS CPU at 2ghz haha

im also interested in this but for MULTIPLAYER ONLY!
I could care less about SP.
now the only Q is.."how many players for the map can it do"?
I also like the $800 price point he set.
it is to my understanding BF3 (for SP) only really requires a very FAST dual core cpu (to not bottleneck a gtx 580 gpu) of course that is for a DESKTOP and probably for SP

what would be good to know is the A10 that just got released and with what gpd or crossfire etc...

    anymore info would be great

    ps
I will be using hdmi going to my 1080P 42" LCD.
that's its native resolution but I imagine I will have to do 1368 or 720P right?

SP is doable with a dual core, but for MP forget it.

I ran BF3 with an Athlon II 260.... 64 player maps were a joke even at 3.7Ghz.
