It's impossible to create a game that no one would want to sell on, for starters it would mean single player gaming being killed off, or even less of a priority than it is now which is a very bad thing.

I can see it from both points of view, if a game sells 1 million copies new then another 4 million used, it's not like the game has sold 5 million copies, its still 1 million.
On the other hand killing off used sales is only going to work on the tight ass and greedy, for the many who only have a set budget each month it isn't, if they can't trade old games in to buy a new one, then they just won't be able to buy the new one.

and that's their whole problem. The developer/publisher does not get any revenue from used game sales. This is why the whole "Online Pass" crap started. That way if someone traded in a multiplayer game, and someone else bought it, they wouldn't be able to use the online function without paying for one of those passes.

It's stupid. Car companies don't make you eat the cost of a new ECM before you can bring your used car on the road now do they? I don't see why the games industry somehow can't function with the presence of a second hand market when every other market since the dawn of time has.

Yuppers digital only media or the sky is bs and long as they do they can expect me to torrent pirate the program. On the other hand I spent real usd money on a game called OBLIVION which had no copy protection. Oh well in some ways I laugh about it cuz then they piss me off I get the programs for free if they don't and I like it I pay to support them. And another thought long as a software publisher and stores say you can't return software you can be sure I will download pirate it and hope all do the same and teach these people a lesson.

Cars make bad analogies because they have very important factor when buying new vs used... wear and tear. Cars will wear out over time and use, while video games on discs don't wear out anywhere near as fast unless they were abused.

I'm not arguing that second hand sales should be abandoned... just want to point out that cars make poor analogy. Books are far better imo, especially since books are also going digital these days. Movies/music are even more spot on but they are kind of on the same boat as games so they are more 'identical' than 'similar', hence bad topics for analogies.

With this new multiplayer pass concept, you "wear out" a portion of the value of the product when you use it, much like a car. Making the next owner buy a pass to get the features is like forcing the next buyer of a car to get new tires.

I get what you're saying, but my point is more that every other product in the world has a second hand market, and it's not destroying those industries. They don't even complain.

Actually if they the publishers put up/enable selling games on platforms (Origins or Steam or rockstar or blizzard), but put up just a $5 or $3 or $2 cost which goes from the sale of game to publishers pockets. Its would easily please anyone..

But noo...........EA wants FULL PRICE (my arse)

Well, to be honest, i kinda like the idea of publishers having their own digital distribution system. Actually was able to get a refund for Battlefield 3 directly from EA/Dice/whoever after e-mailing them about how much i hated playing the game. Any chance of me being able to do that with Blizzard for Diablo 3 which i hardly ever touch? Probably not... because i bought it from GameStop.

Blizzard has a distribution service as well. Complaining to any company can get you a refund. I complained about my Casino Royal DVD not working because of their pathetic DRM and they sent me a new copy without it. That was Sony Pictures, too.

Time to stop playing computer/console games and do some real sport...let the EA_type_companies rot in their filth.with no consumers to cater.
