Rich hasn't had any lockups, but *MY* issues with the random GSOD/black screen with 100% fan in 2D/desktop occured on the very same drivers where the 2D voltage drop happened, at the start of the 12.6 betas (12.5 were fine). And another poster mentioned that on his OSD, he noticed the GPU speed had ramped up to 1050 mhz, but the VOLTAGE did NOT change with the speed...it remained at 0.805v at 1050 mhz= instant crash.

Yeah ive seen those cheers mate. I'm always up to date with everything inc bios on my rig.

The fix apparently was introduced in the 12.6 beta's initially but it still happens for me with all subsequent drivers.

Im not entirely sure what my exact problem is tbh.

12.4 WHQL= could only wake my monitor from sleep by ctrl+alt+del, no idle crashes, no game crashes.

12.5 18th April= no idle issues, occasional game crashes with atixxx32.dll
    as cause.

12.6 beta (not tried new whql)= Same as 12.4, only occasional system freeze when trying to wake monitor from sleep. System restarts in BF3.

12.7 betas = Same as above.

So its going to be back to 12.4's if i keep this card, as although its annoying to not be able to wake monitor from sleep with mouse, least theres no freezing or game crashes.

Im really at a loss at minute.
Whatever AMD changed in these recent drivers really doesnt suit my system.

these are the most pathetic drivers i've ever encountered. 7850 crossfire looses performance, grey screens in 2d mode and bf3 constantly crashes. What a joke.

    I'll take it..

Yeah theres serious flickering at times and the scene looks grainy or textured with these 12.7 cat/12.7 cap1 betas, but I got to say that with AFR mode enabled Skyrim loads up all three of my 6970's all the way in the 80-90% utilization which has never really happened before. So way to go AMD. Will be clapping with just one hand until you get the texture flickering problem fixed!

Playing with triple screen triple gpu eyefinity mode.

Sucks to hear. I heard spyre say on rage3d that he was testing a new driver that seems to have "a workaround" for the flickering. Lets see which one he was talking about, hopefully not this failure

For me Skyrim is basically perfect! The flickering issue is gone... the one where the background would flicker when in the pause menu. :nerd:

Did you apply AFR friendly mode? Or did you leave the crossfire profile at default?

You have a second monitor wired on the second card ?

Dont have this problem.. but i use ULPS enabled, the cards are not oc for gaming.. )

Does the card stay at this speed after exiting a 3D app ?

Yes both at 1200/1800mhz both with tesselation the same.

The GPU usage is WAY down on any driver after 12.4, 12.2 drivers are slightly faster then 12.4

But my heaven scores are the highest I have had for a while.

Someone else said that too, regarding League of Legends....

    Here...http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=365143

That is a known issue mentioned in the release notes, try reinstalling.

I have only one monitor, 120Hz.

The second card goes back to normal after i exiting a game, but if i disable CFX, the second card is still running high idle speed. ULPS is disabled, and the cards are overclocked to 1150/1600

Intel IGPU and HD7970 on same machine.

I enabled the IGPU on my motherboard thinking that somehow my machine can make use of the Intel IGPU meager though it is compared to the HD7970.

The HD7970 is the primary adapter. The IGPU shows up in Device Manager and other hardware reporting programs. I have yet to find any program to control the IGPU but that might be because it isn't Primary.

So is there a way to use both adapters simultaneously? Sort of a mutant Crossfire?
