Tapatalk support?

Does this forum support tapatalk? I couldn't find it in the app. Is not, is there a plan support it?

 

Not gonna happen.
Tapatalk creates some security concerns to start with.

I'd be interested to know of the security issues, is there a mobile theme that is easier to read on phones?

 

I have no problems viewing this website on my HTC Thunderbolt.

Anything that requires us to insert code that loads from an external site is a security issue.

And because Tapatalk requires you to insert a line of Javascript into your header. We include that in the list.

Another problem you find is if Tapatalk has problems and you can't load that Javascript file. It will hang the site and add a significant load time because it's trying to access it before loading the rest of the page.

So no. Tapatalk won't be getting installed.

 

It's been on another site I frequent for some time with no issues and it's at least as big but whatever.

 

I wish we had some kind of mobile skin, site doesn't work on my phone or ipod. All other sites reflow the text to fit except this one (even with fast loading skin), so you have to scroll from side to side massively all the time.

 

Are all those ad banners everywhere local too? I somehow doubt that.

I think in the past year I've seen this website down more frequently than tapatalk.

There's a big difference between adding an ad to the top of a webpage and adding it to the code that runs the forum and accesses the database.

Exactly. This site is usable enough on the phone that I've banned people from my phone (using Opera Mobile). :banana:

 

We have our own Ad Server and Management. It's in our control which helps improve reliability.

But if you want to have some attitude over it. That's your problem. Not mine.

I'm aware other sites run it. And I'm aware large sites run it.

If they want to do that. That's their prerogative. But it's already stated we won't. And why. And any attitude over it will not change that.

As a side note. It has already been mentioned SEVERAL times that we are working on a new site.

There is little chance we are going to mess with the old stuff when the new areas are being prepared.

If anything happens. My guess is we will put in a Mobile theme.

 

Fast style + Opera Mini = I don't really have a problem viewing texts in the forum, and I use an antiquated BlackBerry 8900.
I've even used a Sony Ericsson K810i back then and Opera Mini had no problem re-flowing the text.

CMIIW, though.

 

No problems viewing on my G.Nexus using Chrome.

No attitude from me I just mentioned that other large sites don't seem to have the issues you mentioned so they maybe less than accurate assumptions.Thanks for the answers none the less and cheers.

LOL, tapatalk sucks so hard now, even if there were not other concerns it would be stupid to run it.
It is like a group of people who have never actively used a forum designed an app. I've paid for the stupid thing (and can't get a refund), and I still don't want to use it.
