Guys, no need to go in safe mode, just a good uninstaller that clean the registry is enough and this new kid on the block is very very good, try it (free):

Also leave HPET On, it improve GPUs performance (DirectX at least) by 10%.

I'm still very angry at myself to discover last week how much better BF3 run without Hyper-Threading. I should trial disabled it months ago.

    DISABLE Intel HT ASAP.

(Empty) Logical cores fighting for physical core ressources is very bad for gaming. May apply to AMD Bulldozer too, there is real computing power there but a lot of time critical ressources are still shared.

Don't believe me, just try it with a game like BF3, it's a night and day experience.

    Some good HT info:

Oh and yeah, I tried to set affinity to only one logical core by physical core but it's an even worst experience in BF3. You really have to disable it in BIOS.

I had to go through this experience too. It's a shame how disabling a 100€ technology difference in CPU's (2500k vs 2600k) actually results in a worse performance. Just hoping they'll improve the engine/drivers seriously soon!

Edit: Curious: Are you going to optimize future Catalysts again? :D

Well I never optimized the driver in itself, I have not the knowledge to do that, mostly tweaks related to it. I still apply my method of usurping a higher card series registry settings when upgrading the driver for my 4890, work good.

And still have to manually clean registry (or Device Manager) because AMD uninstaller do it wrong as ever. Old drivers registry keys are not deleted when you remove an AMD Catalyst driver, you have to trust the new one to overwrite them perfectly, which from my previous experiences they don't.

NVIDIA have the right way to update drivers, they simply delete the corresponding display devices in Device Manager, which also erase all the corresponding registry keys. When you reboot to install your new driver, you have Standard VGA adapter settings, which is perfect as the starting point.

If AMD could start uninstall/install driver the same clean way NVIDIA do, they could solve a lot of issues related to drivers corruption from old-new mixing up. People will be lot more happier with them.

You mean to improve BF3's game engine? You kidding me? So many months have passed and they haven't fixed almost any bug... Only balance adjustments. The true glitches and bugs are countless and you hope for Frostbite improvement? That could also fix issues like character's foots go through wall when prone. :S

By the way @Von Dach thanks for the GeekUninstaller. It seems nice and I hope the developer will keep supporting it well.

Well I don't consider the legs going through walls when proning a bad bug, people camping in buildings should be punished anyway :)

But of course you're right, its unlikely they'll do anything to the engine :/

well ya, it's so hard to modify anything graphical in it, remember one of dice's own employees spent a whole day just to setup the editor in his home office for bc2

    hi Von,

    i am looking for your:

Von Display Driver Keys Cleaner 1.1

but that link is now a malware site and is bad.
    i cannot find it anywhere.
    any suggestions?

is that information still valid for the recently released 13.12 WHQL AMD Radeon driver update?

    thanks in advance
