The only thing I don't like about the p67 is it doesn't have any video ports, dvi, hdmi, or even vga :/

Dude, why are you asking a similar question again? I thought we finished this conversation already? The last thread was already 6 pages long.

Dude, 14 yo with nearly $300 to spend on hardware and it's burning a hole in his pocket, what would you expect..lol

But to be truthful I wondered the same thing myself :)

When I was around that age I just sucked it up and just used my crappy old Pentium 4 2.53 GHz rig back in 2005 before I earned enough money to actually build my own rig which was my old computer back in 2008 (and then did a slight overhaul to add in the quad core in 2009).

I just jumped on it after doing some research and just learned by taking chances lol.

    Same here,
    except I started with a slot type Celeron 400 in 1999, went to a p3 450 then a AMD Athlon 800Mhz, then AMD XP 2500 then AMD X2 6000 , then E8400, then i7 950.. then.....
I just read lots of pc mags and realised the money I'd spent on pc mags in a year would have paid for my next upgrade...lol
Then I woke up and started using online reviews, made my decision solo and spent the money..done.

Out of the upgrade path I still have my p3 450 and my AMD x2 6000, just not in use these days.
The AMD x2 6000 is like a ghost that keeps coming back to haunt me.
I've given it away to friends with lesser hardware and once they upgrade they give it back..lol

Asking a lot of questions is how you get better at things ;) Im 17 btw. Most tempting thing in the world uggh. An i3 or 3.0 APU unlocked. Sorry for asking a lot and btw I am not arguing like Pill Monster said. I am just stating what I believe

    Bottom line..
You want to worth while oc in the very near future,
You want to use it now,
You want perfermance while you use it now.
You want to be able to get more oomph when you have a little more money saved to spend later.

Use your current Case, PSU and GT 440.
    Save $450 and buy yourself a 2500K/3570k , z77 mobo and 8GB ram.
    It's not rocket science dude.
Going for an AMD or a H61/7 mobo shouldn't even be considered if your trying to aim at the Bottom Line listed above..

You don't have enough money now to get started with the very base, then save a little more and wait a little longer.
Your current pc works, live with it, get some after school work, mow lawns, Wash Windshields ... what ever it takes to save a little more money..
Aim at a proven base for your pc and stick to it.
AMD is not a good substitute at this point in time compared to anything intel atm... imho

Well put. You're certainly right. 2500k is about $200. Thanks.

To be honest, if I were you in your situation, I'd just keep with what I have and just upgrade all at once. That's what I did when I started out (except that I opened an upgrade path to a quad core by getting an AM2+ board instead of an AM2 board at the time).

Just save up for at least a Core i5 2500K + Z77 motherboard and you should be set to go.

    I was 17 when I built this:
    • AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
    • ASUS M3A
    • Hitachi 320 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache HDD
    • Kingston 2 x 1 GB DDR2-667 RAM
    • Sapphire Radeon HD 3650 with 512 MB DDR2

By the end of the life time of that build, I had:
    • AMD Phenom II 810
    • ASUS M3A
    • 1 x 500 GB WDC Caviar Black HDD, 1 x 500 GB Seagate ES.2 HDD, 1 x 1 TB Samsung SpinPoint F2 HDD
    • G.Skill 4 x 2 GB DDR2-800 RAM
    • XFX Radeon HD 6870 Dual Fan

Here's a list of changes I've made to my rig through the years:

For the whole argument of i3 vs A8, the A8 is hardly inferior as some claim on here. I think people are either anti-AMD (pro-Intel just gives you the cheapout things like using low quality TIM or only 2 SATA3 ports on the Z77 chipset), or forgetting the i3 is at best literally only half as good as an i5.

The i3 can't overclock, the A8 'K' models can. If you don't believe the performance difference, look it up.

Keep in mind the piledriver core AMD Fusion CPU's are coming out later this year (new socket though). When coupled with the right discrete video card (a HD7670) for example, the A10-5800K looks like it will be performance much better than the Ivy Bridge i3's, since they gain little in performance.

The only advantage with going Socket 1155 is upgradeability to an i5, but if you want to consider that, you have to consider a higher end motherboard (such as a Z77), otherwise it isn't really worth it. Then of course, you run into requiring a new PSU... The socket 1155 is being replaced next year anyway, whereas the Socket FM2 should allow for an upgrade to a third gen AMD if you so wish.

If you don't believe me about the i3 vs A8, google it :) then consider the fact the piledriver CPU's and the A10 are coming out later which are at least 50 percent faster for the graphics and 20 percent on the CPU...

It all comes down to how much you want to spend. AMD fusions are better for a cost 'effective' gaming machine (particularly when you crossfire it with a discrete card), whereas Intel are better for mid to high end. ALWAYS remember the i3 is at best literally half an i5, so comparing the i3 to the i5 and saying its almost as good is a lie. If it is, why doesn't everyone buy a dual core i3 instead of a quad core i5?!...

That's obvious, I don't understand why you need to point it out? I haven't said or even suggested that LGA1155 isn't dead post-Ivy.

The difference between a locked i5 and an overclocked i5 is small enough that new CPUs in just 2-3 years will completely outperform both.

They are enthusiast sockets, not in the same lineage as the rest. It's not like LGA1366 replaced LGA1156, did it? Neither did LGA2011 replace LGA1155.

I agree. Either save up enough cash for a full upgrade, or just upgrade the GPU because that's the obvious bottleneck in the system.

What PSU with my new build

Alright guys I bought the following things
    ASUS m4a88t $55
    GTX 275 $65
    Phenom X4 960t $99
    Total: $219

Now I know for a fact that my 475W at 16A on a 12v will not support all of the above.
I need to find a PSU, but I would like my total to not go over $300, but I will go $320 at the same time I need to buy ram which I will buy separately. For now I need a pretty good PSU.

Does this antec look good, it's new:

We went over this, I'm not repeating myself so go back to the two other threads you've created and my recommendations are still the same.

Keep away form the CoolerMaster eXtreme Power Plus series altogether.
They are 70%+ efficiency at typical loading, which is not good in this day and age.

The Antec looks to be an older model from what I can tell, since the seller doesn't give a model it makes it hard to find reviews on it.

I'd trust this more then either of the 2 the op picked, at least I can find reviews on it.

Even then take that with a pinch of salt as it could be a dud as well, idk.
