I'm tired of Nvidia toying with us, and to demonstrate my displeasure I've chucked my 680 into the street, where it was then run over by a dump truck. I then proceeded to urinate on the remains and swept them into the sewer.

Intel igpu is enough for me from now on.* :bonk:

Wouldnt expect you to say anything, just found it funny that you say that every time a new nv card comes out. iirc you talk a lot when a new amd card review comes out. lol, just the things i notice

Anyways, for people saying 680 isnt worth it, it seems the cards arent limited by performance by the amount of cuda cores, but some other determining factor. Because clock for clock they perform about the same. Maybe because its 256bit

    Thanks for the review.
I have to add that I'm puzzled a little - I didn't expect the framerate to be so close to 680. Did you use the same drivers for 670 and 680?

You obviously notice a little too much. There's more to life than just Nvidia vs AMD.

The 670 was tested with specific driver which does not yet support the 680. So we can safely assume the 680 will get a boost on performance with the new WHQL drivers. And regarding triple monitors, the 680 is 10% faster than the 670.

I've seen somewhere this newer drivers tested against older Kepler drivers,
and they do offer perf. boost

well except in Shogun 2, where older drivers are much faster

The 301.33 drivers are identical to the 301.34 ones from what I've read except for the fact that the latter ones support only the GTX 690 and GTX 670. So you can install the 301.33 beta drivers on a GTX 680 without needing to modify the INF.

And the GTX 680 is 10% faster in triple monitor gaming for 25% extra cost. Not terribly great value. The GTX 670 deserves to be a huge success as it makes the GTX 680 look overpriced and that was already a terrific card to start with.

No they are older, but what makes them identical is they came from the same sub-branch. :)

Here's an interesting slide from the Bjorn3D review:

The overclocked GTX 670 is 26% slower than a stock GTX 680 in Just Cause 2 at 1920x1080. This is the only game benchmark I've seen where the gap between the two cards has been that large. The review mentions the difference is down to the lower SM count of 1,344.

@ Veteran - The GTX 670 and 680 share the same unified driver though so any improvements made for a game will increase the framerate proportionally for both cards! If the 670 OC is faster in BF3 then it will always be faster relatively no matter which drivers you install.

The GTX 670 looks to be a fantastic card for everything except Just Cause 2 (where it strangely not much faster than the GTX 580). I found a copy of an AMD email on another site where they were questioning NVIDIA's ability to supply Kepler cards: http://www.brightsideofnews.com/new...2c-questions-nvidias-kepler-availability.aspx

    Sour grapes anyone?

Sad to see my 7970 taking a kicking, for the most part, but hats off to the green team for producing these fantastic cards. Bravo!

Sorry to quote myself but I found this slide in the Hexus review:

I'm guessing that Hexus played the actual game whereas Bjorn3D ran only the Desert demo. Still shows how benchmarks can be misinterpreted. Obviously, actual gameplay is a better indication of actual performance than a benchmark which has no actual action taking place in it.

Dude, you've got one great card. The release of 670/680/690 didn't make it worse by any means. I use the same logic with my SLI 260 still rocking. I'll probably get 670/680 (ASUS DirectCu) soon, but my point is that if you just think about how your setup is good and not how good is the new stuff, you may realize that you can save quite a lot of monies.

Great card but that was expected after the 680 reviews.

As for the value of the cards, here in Portugal the cheapest 680 is 490€ and the 670 is 430€ meaning that the 680 offers 10% more performance costing 14%, i think that´s acceptable.

Still, i continue to think that those cards are mid range, so i´m gonna wait for the 7xx series to be released, then the 680 and 670 will be rebranded as 760 ti and 760 and will cost half of what they cost now. Maybe i´ll buy 2 of then.

    Great review as always!
