dunno the 690 is going to be one tough card to beat especially with its power usage advantage

    Ati 7990=downclocked gpus.
    More ram total of 6gb
    Cheaper price.

Conclusion...Not as powerful as the 690 but cheaper and has more memory onboard which will be a major selling point.

Nice review as always. GG Nvidia, see you there when the 7990 goes out.

They do have until June though, might come out with higher clocks and enough cooling to support it.

    great review :)

I have a question about the GTX 690's performance.
As the main test was performed/reviewed on a X58 based system, would the card perform significantly better on a X79/Ivy Bridge based system with proper drivers to support PCIE 3.0? Or do I still have hope for my X58 based dinosaur? :bang:

Pcie 3.0 is not really needed atm tbh.

The best thing to do though, if your going SLi/Xfire, is to buy 1 card first, then after a while, you pick up another when they've dropped in price.

If I was an Arab Sheikh I'd buy one, but I'm not so I'll stick with the 680.

Man... this card looks amazing!! like some kind of HI tech stuff.. not like a toy(palit jetstream for example). But you guys really should update this review, Nv announced that 690GTX have dramaticly improved micro stuttering issue and as post24 shows Nv did really good job at this :).
For this reason its the first dualGPU card ever that I would consider to buy... only if I had beter CPU/PSU/etc... and 1000$ to spend :D (for now one 680GTX is enough for my needs)

great review but man... there is no way I could justify even as a guru and one that loves having top of the line, going from my 570 to this card. Hell, I'd have to upgrade everything all from scratch for a easy price tag of well over $3000...nope!

To be honest I think this thing should have been priced at no more than $600 USD.

Only if the GTX680 was $300 USD, and the 7970 was $250.

Wouldn't that be great, but even the GTX670's which are due out in a few days aren't that cheap, as i'm hearing they will be around $400.

IMO it is because dual GPU cards had been selling at approx 1.5 time the cost of the top of line single GPU.

If 680 is worth $500, then 690 is worth AT LEAST $1000.

What you should be complaining if anything, is a weak performance jump between 40 and 28nm.

This beauty trumps 680 SLI in every aspect. Even raw fps is a wash, and SLI is not about raw FPS only.
Next to it, 680 SLI looks like a last year tech.

    So 680 SLI = 690
Good, I may sleep well from now. ;D
