I thought the idea of PCIe3 was to double the bandwidth to 32 pipes. Surely that'll improve any setup that supports it.

LOL - It wouldn't surprise me. That's just what happened with my 4870, but I thought it was Nvidia who scuppered 10.1?

And 11.1 will depend on MS' NLE v2.0 (Nice Little Earner). Once upon a time you could simply download new DX versions from their website - now you have buy a whole new OS! :puke2:

I agree that game looks like crap, even on ULTRA settings, lol... textures, even with texture pack seem to be taken off xbox 360 :p
On the other hand, I had stuttering only with highest settings as fps went up and down constantly creating stutter. it wasn't a driver issue. it was a performance issue from the game. I tested this with a GTS450 and a 6850 with the same outcome.
by low power I meant low processing power (low - mid end card)
a 5770 is lower in performance than a 6850, and a 6850 struggled with all on max at 1080p. with 2 of them it runs flawlessly. DX11 options off for one 6850 if you want game to be fluid.

Is there any word on Diablo 3 compatibility?
As of now D3 beta (yes i know it's ended) won't go into the login screen, and Blizzard has stated that for now the 12.4 isn't supported.

Should I roll back to 12.3?

I'm on 8.97 and I can go onto the login screen.

Pretty sure they'll get it all sorted out before release.

I'm sure any driver would work flawlessly with D3 seeing as how it's not a taxing game at all.
I'm just curious if I should roll back is all. :p

12.4 CAT Blue screen in Dragon Age 2

Installed CAT 12.4 the other day and for the first time in my computers 2 year life I was getting hard crashes, blue screen and auto reboots of win 7 64.

I was playing a new game to me called Dragon Age II (ver. 1.4)

And I always use driver sweeper before installing any ATI/AMD drivers to insure all the old drivers are gone prior to install.

I rolled back to 12.3 and no more crashes. I went back to 12.4 and tried again and the blue screens of death started again.

There is something very wrong in AMD 12.4 to crash like that in a popular game like Dragon Age II.

I'll stick with 12.3 for now.

Are you using ATI tray tools? I was getting crashes too after upgrading to a new driver version some time back. if you are, then uninstall ATI TRay and try and get an older version of it. It does seem to like some drivers, and HATES having no driver at all (like when uninstalling one). My system kept rebooting right after booting up, and had to uninstall ATI TRay in safe mode.

Well, as I said, the game runs smoothly for me. The stutters appear randomly, in areas that ran just as smoothly before, and often disappear after a save or game reload or even just waiting them out and running through the area again.
Plus, there are plenty reports from "high power" card owners in that Bioware thread, as well.
The reason this could be happening is a problem not with "power" but with single GPU setups.

PS: Hmm, my previous driver was 12.1. Maybe, 12.4 screwed something up. I'll try rolling back to 12.3 and see if that does anything.
PPS: That said, I've had no other problems, except DA2 stutters, with 12.4, so far.

    I have a little problem.
Tonight was trying to solve the bad performance and big stuttering in game Sniper Elite V2, had installed 12.4 WHQL,uninstall them, install 12.1, I returned to uninstall these to return again to 12.4 WHQL because the performance is the same.

The problem I have now is that I'm installing 12.4 but CCC, MSI AB, and GPU-Z and tell me have 12.1 installed, but I think I have installed version 12.4 because the driver gives me this:

    8.961-120405a-137813C-ATI
    12.1

What can i do for fix it ?

PS: I tried uninstall whit Driver Sweeper and Driver Cleaner.net

This is a beta. It doesnt include a CAT number until it goes WHQL

Its picking up 12.1, because it was the last WQHL you installed.
