Half-Life fans here is some badnews. In a recent interview with SevenDayCoolDown Gabe revealed that Valve's silence is fairer to the Half Life fans. According to Gabe Valve has not finalised the formula... More...
They could help Black Mesa Source to finish the Total Conversion. That Mod is in Development since 2004.
I enjoyed Half Life but I think it's way overrated. I think a lot of people feel forced to like it just to go with the flow. Because Valve is the best developer and really love their customers!
I really like the cinematic mod, which I have stated before. With CM 11.05 (and the upcoming CM 11.20 being even better) its basically a total conversion. After playing CM, I couldn't go back to playing vanilla. So, after HL2 EP 2, either they never really worked on EP3, or they got sidetracked by other projects, or they made (at least some of) EP3, muffed it (probably by trying to support consoles) and put it in the too hard basket for now...
about that cinematic mod. havent played it since 10.0 really, but did he impliment destructable environments already ? i saw a vid back then that he was working on it.
So it's in the works At early stages because they are not sure how they want that game to turn out. Still, they are experimenting with it so they are working with HL3.
Half-Life 3 better not become the next Duke Nukem Forever. Let's just say they're not spending any money on it yet. It doesn't cost much to sit in chairs and talk about the story.
The title is kind of inaccurate and people are getting the wrong idea. The actual interview this is taken from is a podcast, the question actually asks about Ricochet 2 but the context alludes to Half Life 3 and not episode 3. People need to understand that Valve's development team is essentially free to work on what they want when they want. This leads to lengthy development times, but games that far exceed what other developers are capable of making. Dota 2 for instance has so many awesome features that it completely blows your mind.. even a company like Blizzard doesn't even come close.
I'm also in the group of not caring about another HL game/episode. There are too many sequels/prequels/remakes these days, i would much prefer to see Valve do a new FPS, and off the top of my head i don't think Valve have every made a second sequel of any of their games, they all seem to stick at 2.
One thing many game developers are failing on these days; Game quality. Take ya time Valve, we know you'll deliver.
Well, it's hard trying to make a masterpiece, so taking your time shouldn't be an issue. Out of all the games I have, I have found the most replayability out of the "Half-Life" series; so that has to count for something. And Half-Life 2-Ep2 was released in 2007, so it's not that long.
