    Why ?

    - nearly no availability ( a bit better in Europe )
    - Respective shops in country price the 680 higher due to availability and low stock. Just for charge a maximum the buyer.

If now Nvidia start to get better availability and price will automatically going back to MSRP, the question is now different.

( i dont speak about the value of each card ofc )

I'm not complaining. I like my 7970s, nearly as good as the 680.

In a way I miss that I never had the chance to buy my Gigabyte 7970 Windforce 3x since they were out of stock for more than a month (and got back in stock two days before the launch of 680). But well, I'm happily married to my 680 now :)

The smart one always waits for a better offer (which could be for an infinite time since they're always something better or cheaper around the corner) but the gamer takes an offer when he needs to.

haha, bleh was the noise I made when I read this, so I typed it not knowing ;)

Im definitely ok with it considering Ive owned the cards for a few months and have been enjoying every 'Ultra' preset available. I looked on newegg today for the same card I have and it only really dropped about 50 bucks.

I got to give AMD a lot of credit for these cards. They are substantially faster than there last gen counterparts, which I haven't been able to say since I owned my 5850. The 6000 series of cards was a big disappointment, and im happy they have made up for it with monster specs and a good leap in architectural changes. Im looking forward to the driver releases in the next couple of months that should really start opening up the potential these cards have.

    GAME ON!

Now Im starting to see Crysis 3 advertisements, and more videos for war fighter and really glad Im good to go :)

How many HD7K price drop threads do we really need? This is at least the 3rd...

I wouldn't say "nearly" as good. From everything I have heard from friends that have that card,I would say "just" as good. I prefer Nvidia cards, but my friends are gamers, and can run three 22 inch monitors, playing BF3 etc. maxed out, with just one 7970.

Please, you don't upgrade to any ATi videocard because it's inefficient for tessellation - GTX 680 is much faster than HD 7970 at tessellation. :p Therefore better that you keep that GTX 480 is very good. :)

Tesselation performance in the 7 series is much improved over the last gen. The 7970 hands the 480 it's arse in every review and that's not surprising.

The issue now is how much do you want to spend or availability. The 680 is the better product but I see no reason not to upgrade a 480 to a 7970 as it is a much better product in every conceivable way.

I'm still waiting for something which is worthy of replacing my 5850 but not cost too much (over £220... basically I paid for my card nearly 2 years ago). When I say worthy I mean over 50% performance increase, which the 7870 seems to be but at £270 average that's far, far too pricey.

ok but I don't like any ATi and I will continue to upgrade to next high-/top-end GeForce card (soon Maxwell or GTX 480 died RMA :)) because Fermi or better GeForce is impressive efficient at tessellation and has PhysX support. :D

I agree. My problem is that I have 2 5850's so the performance must be greater again than current cards or the price of current cards eventually goes down significantly for me to buy 2 of them.

Pointless to throw in some free games imo. Happy to see the price drops.
