Eh im sure your mobo is making those cards lose about 20% of performance. IMO not worth SLI unless you are on P67/Z68/Z77 etc

I stepped up from a HD5970. There's an undeniable difference in performance, but I didn't really notice any stuttering when gaming on the HD5970.

I upgraded from quadfire 5970 and this definitely feels smoother. I may not get as high a max framerate on some titles but I definitely get higher minimums with the 680s.

How so? Due to my CPU yah I know my CPU is a bit slower than Sandy Bridge chips, but it is fine for now. Nothing out there really stresses it that much.

Currently I'm waiting for Ivy Bridge before I do any kind of upgrade, it just doesn't make sense to buy a CPU/Mobo upgrade now.

Just ordered two EVGA 680 GTX Superclocked cards from NCIX. They are going to replace my 580 GTX's,which are going into my wife's 730x. I was told about three weeks for delivery. 680's are very very hard to find in stock anywhere.

I briefly tested that at 1920x1200 with Ultra settings and Ubersampling and was surprised to find the game runs at between 30-40 fps on the second chapter. It ran poorly before on my GTX 580, sub-20 fps from memory so the GTX 680 definitely offers an improvement.

Personally though I don't find Ubersampling to offer that much of an improvement over the normal post-processing AA so I've turned it off. In fact, in places Ubersampling looks worst as it blurs textures as shown in screenshots on the The Witcher 2 tweaking article on GeForce.com.

Because P55 chipset has half speed PCIe lanes. So an 8x Sandy bridge PCIe lane =s the same bandwidth of a p55 x16 slot. 4x SB slot =s 8x P55 slot.. etc

Pending a GTX 680 here. Amazon had EVGA SCs for preorder yesterday, and I was fortunate to be one of the lucky few from yesterday's batch from Amazon. Now I'm just waiting until I get an e-mail on the supply they get. We'll see what happens.

To even have a GTX 680 on order at all is certainly an honor. Especially from a legit seller at the price that it was supposed to be sold at. Now I just better hope it won't bottleneck to death on my Phenom II 955/790GX setup.

Might just upgrade my RAM from 8GB to 16GB to see if that might make up for the difference.

Will do absolutely nothing for a CPU bottleneck. Sorry.

Having run a 580 on my Phenom II 940 @3.6GHz rig before going Sandy Bridge, I can tell you for certain that it will. Many games got a massive fps boost from the platform change - felt like I got a new gpu.

adding more ram will do nothing for a cpu bottleneck. you need to overclock your cpu.

Bottleneck no doubt. I ran a 580 in a qx9650 rig at 4.0. When I put the card in my current rig, it was like a free gpu upgrade.

Availability is super crap, there are Palit card around but with their warranty and higher price than EVGA I'm going to pass. Still waiting... New RAM and mobo should arrive tomorrow and it looks like I even manage to get IB before this card.

I found a sweet deal on the PoV 680 Beast (watercooling block pre-installed) I couldn't resist. I hope it will arrive this week. Already ordered a whole pile of tubing and fittings to re-configure my loop. Should be a fun weekend!

You need to disable GPU PhysX to get a comparable score. Either that or upgrade to the newest Vantage version which does this by default.
