Upgraded from a 6850 crossfire and have been happily gaming ever since. In most cases like 99% i get a higher average framerate and much higher minimum. I keep hearing alot of complaints but the only complaints i have is with developers ie bethesda. Any other 7970 or 7950 owners post your experiances.

I've upgraded from 6870 crossfire (ref models) for Gigabyte Windforce 7970, I've never been happier. I've never had any real crossfire issues before, but my 6870's were rather loud and couldn't really use AA options, especially in BF3.

I'm loving this card bigtime, managed an overclock of 1200/1650 with a slight voltage tweak and this card is much more quiet, and gameplay is noticeably smoother and obviously higher ingame graphics settings. Loving 4xMSAA!!!!

One major advantage this move has is no more buggy stressful crossfire shenanigans, no more accused caps, just nice simple stress free gaming, good luck to you.

I went from a XFX 5870 to a PC 7970 and it was a major improvement. I never had troubles like others are having with mine. For some reason, it just works. I'm not complaining :) . I got mine overclocked a bit and it runs great. I've only been playing BF3 and it seems to run very smoothly on ultra settings.

Right now it's a tough decision between the 7970 and the 680. I hope the prices of the 7970 will come down to compete with the 680 which is quite a bit faster than the 7970 for less value. I do like the 3 gigs of ram and the wide bus.
I hope AMD drops their prices soon and Nvidia to put more 680 in the market

I just got a 7950, I was using a gtx295. I have much better performace and can run everything out there with AA even stalker COP. Also with the 295 in skyrim with LOTS of HD texture mods in some places my frames would drop to 1fpm yes thats 1 frame per minute. Now it's perfectly smooth. Also I plan to do some dx11 opengl4.2 programming for an engine im working on.

Last thing I'd like to say is that the drivers work perfect for me so far, not one issue at all.

ive noticed a bios switch on the pbc. Does anyone know where to grab a xfx black edition bios. I know they make a black edition with a referance cooler. Is the card the same besides the bios?

I upgraded from a 5870 to a 7970 and it is an absolute monster of a card. I'm very happy with it. I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon that's for sure.

    3x 7970s running 1225/1575 here, love them.

100+ fps on anything decent you can think of with all settings at Ultra. :)

2 x 7970 here, upgraded from 5970, mainly due to the latter struggling with newer titles at 2560 x 1440. Kicks the ass of every game I throw at it :D

I moved from GTX 580 SLI to HD 7970 Crossfire and couldn't be happier.

Everything looks better, and plays better.

All major issues have been squashed since launch. If you have a stable system you will have stable AMD drivers.

I went from a Radeon 6970 to EVGA Nvidia GTX 570 SC to Sapphire 7950 OC, and I couldn't be happier. I play at 1920x1080 on a 27" LED and my 42" 3d LED HD and play about everything on highest possible graphics settings. Havent had any need to OC the card even further because EVERYTHING runs at 60+ (most games running much higher)

With the exception of BF3 which I run Ultra settings with 4XMSAA instead of 8x, but get a solid 50-60 even on large multiplayer matches, and Metro 2033 which I have to turn off DOF. But this is expected, lol

I have it in a cheap CM basic case and just added additional cooling, and this card stays very cool even after hours of gaming. I don't think Ive EVER owned a VC that stayed this cool with the exception of my Geforce 2 MX440? ;)

Ive had very little driver issues and about all of the minor annoyances have gone away with the latest betas, so im a very happy camper!

I went from a Core i7 920 @ 3.8Ghz and a 570SC to the current rig on the left there and I couldn't be happier. Got a nice 1100/1575 OC on it and it wafflestomps the crap out of everything I throw at it. BF3 on Ultra which never drops below 54fps and thats only in big servers in heavy firefights, otherwise its locked at 60. It just baffles me how not only video card technology but just technology in general has come so far in the last 10-15 years. It's amazing to me.

Yeah this is THE card to use if you want to experience Metro 2033.

Just played it all the way through for the first time, 1080p DX11, all maxed (dof off) and SMAA_Ultra..... All i can say is wow. Stayed at 60fps all the time and ur looked AMAZING !! What an experience.

Card clocked at 1260/6460 may have helped

Target 1250mv in AB, actual peaks at about 1230mv

I have posted screenies of temps etc etc in the 7970 ocing thread.
(since then i bumped up the memory oc from 1575 to 1615)

The OC is the same i had with my first 7970 a Gigabyte windforce (returned it as it was too loud with them 80mm fans), i then got my Sapphire reference & slapped an Accelero Extreme on it.

Oddly the Sapphire ref card oc's better than the Gigabyte windforce which anything over 1265 @ 1250mv would artifact in Heaven bench, whereas the Sapphire is good to ~1285 at same mv's.
However i keep it at 1265 just to be cautious and lets face it at 1265mhz this card blitz's everything.

    Edit**
Oh didnt see you had a Windforce, they are great great cards - oozing quality.
Just I was used to a Accelero Extreme on my 580 so got used to its quietness so needed another one ! I could of put one on the Windforce, but i returned it as paid £470 for it and got a ref Sapphire for £381 + £50 for Accelero - so was cheaper.
Im sure the Windforces are quieter than stock coolers though :)

I upgraged from 2 5870's, and holy #$%# this card rocks, got the gigabyte windforce and couldn't be happier.

When both 5870's were working together they were pretty damn fast too, but I was limited by the 1GB frame buffer as I use a matrox triplehead 3840X1024

All minimums are way up, and BF3 is like silk now

    Rock on AMD:)
