Must they try and copy/ruin absolutely everything British? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-17038465 First i hear about them spitting on the legacy of Only Fools and Horses, and now this? Stick to making world class action / thriller shows i.e 24, Homeland, The Shield etc Steer clear of comedy, you suck at it.
Out of all the American rip off shows I can think of, only one has been successful and is any good - The Office. Some were completely and utterly stupid ripoffs, like 'Coupling' which was identically scripted, which actually makes no sense at all. Despite being the same script, the American version lacked atmosphere and characterisation, meaning it sucked whereas the original version was quite good. Only a miracle could make a Sherlock ripoff any good, they would need excellent actors, excellent scripts, excellent direction, excellent character interaction, well defined and believable personas of the 'extras', and excellent scripting with intrigueing plotlines.
The Office is alright - but it definitely "jumped the shark" many seasons ago. I stopped watching TV a long time ago, unless it comes out of HBO/Showtime/etc - or it's Modern Family, because Modern Family is awesome.
It's called Jason Bourne. And that's about 10 times better than any Bond flick since... Connery? All recent Bond flims have done is to copy Bourne, and Daniel Craig is as charismatic as a pair of used gym socks. Also, OT: They just should just leave this as it is. It's brilliant. And the American Sherlock films are TERRIBLE. HORRIBLE.
Hmm, I have yet to see an American remake of a TV show that I like! However; I enjoyed the first American Sherlock film very much, haven't seen the 2nd one yet! On the other hand the British attempt to bring back Sherlock is god awful tripe! No intelligence at all. Sherlock just looks at the camera like he's deep in thought and spurts out the answers, lol It's just silly! The best screen Sherlock by far is Jeremy Brett, but Downy Jr actually does a good job and I wish more actors from both countries could use each others accents half as well! As for any future shows, I don't know? Wait and see, I guess?
are you talking about the books, or the 3 movies ? i actually liked bond up to pierce brosnan. so you only liked 6 or 7 bond movies, the rest are copies of the later bourne books ? how so ? or did you mean like the last 4 bond movies ? i also hate daniel craig btw, imo he acts and looks american somehow.
Jeremy Brett is indeed the master of playing Holmes, that being said, the BBC remake with Benedict Cumberbatch is extremely well written and well acted i think it does the Holmes character justice, unlike what Guy Ritchie did. He tried to turn Holmes into an americanized James Bond. The film was entertaining, but it was not Sherlock Holmes. EDIT - Yes i agree, Modern Family is superb comedy - i had forgotten about that. When i think of American Comedy, i tend to think of absolute god awful **** like Friends.
The films, not the books. I've not read them. The action implemented in the last Bond films with Craig is very similar to that of Bourne, which just does it much better in every way. Brosman is the worst of all the Bonds. Also, there's lots of good American comedy these days; much more so than British, actually. Modern Family is mentioned, but you also have Community, Parks & Recreation, 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Louie and so on.
I almost shat myself when I saw they were gonna make an American TG. Then I watched the first episode, and have not watched it since. No one can try to be like clarkson, may, and hammond. And those 3 in US TG try way to hard. Fail of a show.
British humor is the worst. The only thing that puts a small smile on my face is Top Gear, which doesn't say much.
if an american would have created a thread in the same tone as the op then they would have been banned. this site is so biased.
