Yeah I agree, it forces me to disable it for now. But I'm sure it will be addressed, either by Microsoft, or by the game companies.
yeah hope so i disabled those too cause of that. and i really really like the new task manager over the old one but really windows 8 just gives nice performance boost over 7
Installed Windows 8 on my spare rig this afternoon, along with UT3. Happy to say that UT3 works fine with this OS. Will probably have to use Black Viper's recipe for Windows 7 to get rid of the unwanted stuff in Windows 8 as well.
The services disable guide? I'm curious - report back what you find. Microsoft claims to have cut the memory usage from Windows 7 down by ~100mb average by optimizing the services. I bet you find most of what they tell you to disable, already disabled.
with so many people now having 4 gigs + of ram and windows 8 goal of much faster boot up times and better power consumption, i don't really see the point of disabling services, at least in the final release version anyway.
