Windows 8

Tried installing this today in VMPlayer, and I'm getting a "DPC Watchdog Violation" error.


Any suggestions what I should try, except installing it the normal way on a different partition?

So here we go.
A few sneak-peak pics of the Developer Preview version.

First screen you start up:


Next, we go to the desktop.
You can clearly see the "start button" here, pretty similar to Win7..


Next pic, the Control Panel (wtf)
-notice the small window on the left side. It appears when you hover your mouse near the edge. Clicking it, brings you to the desktop, but it doesn't close the program!



Notice, at the bottom "More Settings"

Notice the menu on the bottom left.. It appears when you hover your mouse in the corner..

My first impression. It's interesting, but damn hard to get used to.
It's definitely not something you want to use on the dekstop thou..

I installed it on VMPlayer 4.0. If someone has some special wishes to see something tell me...

 

By the looks of it they made IE10 to look the same way as it does on WP7 devices.
Also is it me or does the explorer looks like its too cluttered. I mean the interface was taken from Office but there it works for Explorer though it does not look that good.

 

Public Beta(Consumer Preview) will be out by the end of February.

 

The one thing that drove me over the edge is that when killing an app you have to use taskmanager, because otherwise it wouldn't close.

 

The Developer Preview is too tablet-like which I really don't like for a desktop. I already have Android for that, I don't want my desktop to have a tablet-like interface and then have to use my mouse for it.

These interfaces don't work on desktops like desktop interfaces don't work on tablets, they are two very different devices.

Let's hope the Public Consumer Preview is a lot balanced, if not ... man will we all be pissed.

Except there's another mouse hovering "function" that we don't know yet..

Ow btw. In all those programs, games I tried, there's no menu button to restart the game, pause it, go to options, etc.. like we're used to..
You have to right click so the menu pops up on the bottom of the screen..

Yeah this has me worried as well.

 

will wait till it is out first, but it will have to be good to not only top windows 7, but to also make me want to do a fresh install over my windows 7 partition

 

Looks ok, but those are all tablet shots are they not?

The start button is there from what i've heard, it's just hidden.
Looks wise it's a little plain for me, would of liked to see some sort of fancy and over the top GUI, no real evolution from 7, or even Vista.

Where can I buy a tablet that will run this?
