And the 5870, when it was released it was a league above the GTX 285 and started selling below $400. I suppose if it was sold for $550, there would be people like you saying that the price would be normal. And the GTX 580, when released, it was clearly better than the GTX 480. So, according to your way of thinking, why not keep the 480 to $500 and sell the 580 for $600? After all, it did have that kind of performance gap didn't it? For the past few years , video card development rates slowed down significantly. And as if this wasn't enough, we have AMD/NVIDIA releasing the new architectures with higher prices, rather than keeping the flagship single card at the usual $400-$500 price range and adjust the prices of the rest accordingly. It's their decision what the pricing policy will be and none of my business. But again, it is my decision to purchase none of this.
as much as i love amd the fact remain it is company and it needs to make money.. every nvidia high end card was overpriced abd ppl bought them still. i support amd price for now because the fact is what the card offers its worth every penny
Already got two 7970, so no need for 7950 Too bad it got released after 7970 otherwise i could spend it on two 7950s
And look at my sig Amd is good but the problem I have is they only focus on driver support for the most popular games while the others just go to hell and remain there for months on end. Support tickets get ignored.
Nope but I am thinking of a second 6850 at <<< clocks. I think it would do me better for cheaper but who knows till we get some good drivers for a 7900 series card.
My 5870 is still hoding its ground. With these console ports appearing more and more i cant imagine any game thats going to be released and push my rig to the max. I'll wait for dx12 or just buy new console and be happy for the next 5 years....
Yes consoles and linx for computers might just be the future. Bty The only reason I use windows is for games. If I was strickly a console gamer I would have a little crap box running ubuntu.
You should definitly do that. CF is still the best bang for the buck...especially while looking at older cards like mine or the lower tier of the 6xxx series. Some may say that microstuttering is annoying but personally I've not thought about it at all I mean, my 5850s cost (used) about 200€ and perform as well as a 7950 and not too far from a 7970 which cost more than twice as much. Interesting, no one who has visited this poll so far has bought a 7950 AMD, did you just fail?
i haeve a 4870 1gb. to be honest men it still handles most gaems perfectly. no need to opgrade yet, maybe at end of year..
I'd wait for the 7850 or 7870 and get that. I upgraded to this card from a 4850 and the difference in performance was nice. But a 7950/70 cost 450 - 500 and thats a whole lot. The only reason you should upgrade is dx11.
I agree with that, but i think this approach will only make them money in the short term, with the risk of losing it in the long run. Nvidia and AMD fans think differently though, many Nvidia fans i know will blindly throw money at their cards, while the AMD fans are abit more careful. Since that is where most of the money is made, AMD need to release proper mid-range cards as soon as possible, and at good prices, if not i think they will alienate a large part of their fanbase.
so who is right or who is wrong amd or nvidia fans true for the mid range, but still the gtx 580 did not have a price drop. so will u buy the new 7 series then
i think they already launch mid range card they are called 6950/6970, the next mid range card from the 7 serie certainly be these one with a 7850/7870 sticker on it and a refresh manufacture process.
