These are FANTASTIC drivers for Battlefield 3!

No more microstuttering, FPS has increased by about 20% and I'm getting NO issues ingame.

    About time too!

    I have a dilemma.

    In the release notes:

    http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/290.53/290.53-Win7-WinVista-Desktop-Release-Notes.pdf

    the change log is

Changes and Fixed Issues in Version 290.53
The following sections list the important changes and the most common issues resolved
since version 290.36. This list is only a subset of the total number of changes made in this
driver version. The NVIDIA bug number is provided for reference.
? [NVIDIA Control Panel]: After adding a game to the Manage 3D Settings profiles when
it was not already detected by the driver, instead of the game name appearing in the
profiles list, the path to the game appears. [908150]
? [GeForce 9800 GTX]: 1080p resolution is not listed in the HD, SD section of the
NVIDIA Control Panel Change Resolution page. [848805]
? The display driver may send incorrect display timings to the monitor when the refresh
rate is set to 60Hz, resulting in poor image quality. [908729/909942]
? [GeForce 500 series] [The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim] : There is flickering/corruption in
the game when CSAA is enabled. [897301]
? [GeForce GTX 5 series][The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim] : The game experiences poor
performance when using ultra-quality shadowing mode. [898733]
? [Battlefield 3]: There are triangle artifacts in the game. [877789]
? [The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim] : Added Ambient Occlusion to the application profile.
    [901908]
? [3DVision] [The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim] Added Skyrim Crosshairs to the NVIDIA
Control Panel->Set Up Stereoscopic 3D->Change 3D Laser Sight page. [914623]

which is different from the one you posted. I also found

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-32bit-290.53-beta-driver.html

The page for 290.53 Beta for the download links that you provide. I'm confused because there is no mention of Beta in

    http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/290.53/290.53-Win7-WinVista-Desktop-Release-Notes.pdf

and dl links are for beta.

I've tried to change the dl links and 290.53 is not available

    http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/290.53/290.53-desktop-win7-winvista-32bit-english-whql.exe

Help me out here guys. Is this the beta release with the change log from the website and will there be a stable release in the near future since there is a PDF for 290.53 with no mention of beta inside?

[Update] I also found the complete series:

290.53 is a beta release. WHQL links are not available at this time (and might never be).

Not really sure what con fused you other than some mod changed my post to point to the download page on Guru3D rather that the direct links I originally had to Nvidia.

Yes. True. The original links are from Nvidia, but I'm confused why the change log from Nvidia website

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-32bit-290.53-beta-driver.html

    is different from

    http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/290.53/290.53-Win7-WinVista-Desktop-Release-Notes.pdf

And the above PDF states nothing about BETA stage...

Is the PDF list the change log for 290.53 stable version of the drivers? (Which will have WHQL certification?)

Just a thought. No harm intended.

    Thank you

Almost missed these... downloading them now. Interested that these contain a fix for poor shadow performance in Skyrim on Ultra settings as I thought that was an engine issue. Worth downloading and installing if they fix that IMO plus the recent v1.3.10 seems to have improved performance to a noticeable though slight degree as well (although I accept it may be placebo).

im having that placebo myself darren, everything is much smoother , though i havent checked the config files yet. maybe they reverted to high instead of the ultra i set it to.

cant wait to test skyrim with these drivers aswell

There's nothing strange about it ... this is a beta release not whql, first look at NVIDIA's link, it has BETA inserted in it. Then on driver page it says 290.53 BETA.

So I'm not understanding the fuzz here.

I think these were originally going to be a WHQL version, but Nvidia decided the TDR errors are still nto 100% resolved, so the WHQL was dropped, but he documentation has not been updated to reflect this

I haven't looked at the shadows to any degree but I have noticed that skyrim runs at about 10 more fps than I normally get. Needs more... 'research'. I loaded up my save, ran around Whiterun for about 5 minutes and got pretty consistent frames.

I'll reserve comment on the shadows when it's day time.
