i got 7180 with 950 core clock on my 570 and you got 7637 with 970 on your 580 , i tought the gap would be bigger but they're not too far from eachother.

btw grats on upgrading :D..it was about time you got something to match your cpu

580 only has 6.25% more shaders. Not gonna be a huge difference; the gap gets bigger as soon as you factor in AA/higher resolutions because the the 580 has 8 more ROPs and more vram. im gonna try putting my arctic accelero xtreme on it, see if i can take it higher. As it stands, the card does not like voltage past 1.112, really weird. Temps arent a problem either so idk. My last lightning didnt like voltage either

mine did overclock higher after i fitted an accelero xtreme on it but i don't seem to get it past 960 mhz i did however managed 970 with it but i pushed the voltage quite alot 1.138v i didnt try further ..the temps were good but not sure about the vrm temps so i was scared to go on.

temps are good regardless of voltage used, sad thing is, maxing out voltage causes artifacts ><.. dont know what i can do about that. unsure that the accelero will help that at all, but i hope it does.

so i got that accelero on it, got an extra 15mhz out of it. 985/4800 at 1.118. This card would have to be watercoole it seems to get any higher. http://3dmark.com/3dm11/2347734

Kinda normal for your system, your CPU is kinda meh, thats why your score is lower.
guru3d review has P4311 score, but they have i7 965 at like 3.75 ghz

Is my processor that bad? 0_0 I thought the q9650 still went for a fair amount of money and was considered powerful. If I was to upgrade do you think I should get a new CPU or GPU to improve that score significantly?

you would see a greater improvement in the score by going sandy bridge; but depending on your applications i cant tell you which would bring the bigger performance boost. But if i were to guess; a 2500k would be the better upgrade.
