AMD Releases Catalyst 12.1 Preview - Download & Discussion

Wow, AMD have finally added per-game application profiles... years after NVIDIA? About time! That really is terrific news as it really is the one thing that totally put me off buying an AMD card ever again. This means that my next choice of card doesn't necessarily have to be from NVIDIA. I really hope AMD continue to expand and improve on this feature.

Well done, AMD! Great to know that those seven months of my sending profile requests to you when I had my HD 5870 CFX setup didn't fall on deaf ears.

 

P.S. Being able to force MLAA individually for each game is a step ahead of NVIDIA who currently only support FXAA experimentally through a third-party piece of software called NVIDIA Inspector. The ball is now in your court, NVIDIA, to add FXAA properly to the drivers so everyone can force it for individual games without using Inspector.

 

I assume Mobility is already set? Downloading later today.

 

Played BF3 with these, stil got microstuttering.. don't really know what settings to use if i set BF3 with the application profile option. Maybe im doing something wrong?

So still microstutter with crossfired 6950 for me:/

 

Last time I checked 2001 was 10 years ago.

Kidding. Upgrade to Windows 7, XP won't cut it anymore.

About time they finally added proper profiles, just a shame i can't use them

 

In the console, type this:


RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1

This fixed any kind of stuttering for me, game runs silky smooth

 

This application profiling is as fake as AMD itself.

I mean it has nothing to do with application profiling it is same function as 'save settings' 3 years ago, lol. Now where is the profiling which I can use to
disable all AMD automatic enhancements for an application or how to fix textures etc for an application base it functioning as designed engine.

 

Anyone?

 

Going down the drop list for recognized profiles it either doesn't list them all or it has no built in caps etc at all.

They're good drivers, so far, the application profile thing is pretty great.

If I'm willing to ignore it's like 300mb of ram for one menu of useful options...

 

That's why this is a preview. Maybe next version will be with full features :nerd:

U can also create a user.cfg and put that command in it instead of typing it everytime

 

Very bad driver for Battlefiled 3 and crossfire. Massive shutters even after installing 11.11CAP3.

Avoid it.

 

I made a Skyrim profile using "AFR Friendly" CFX and now I can ultra the game (with AA off though) at 2560x1600 and 60 fps vsync that rarely dips to the high 40s, for example turning around quick in a dense forest.

For some reason I can't find the oblivion profile in there, that would have helped greatly I think. (CAP3 installed btw)

What I couldn't do is sort out Batman AC, neither DX11 nor DX9 with AO enabled

 

Another driver, Skyrim flickering/texture flashing is still there... good stuff ati

 

@ Russ369, where would I put the config file?, in the "Origin Games" folder or in the Battlefield 3 folder under "Username/My Documents"
