Well the whole reason it made news in the US is because we always have insane right-wingers saying this kind of crap. He's just not well known here unless you have BBC America.
I'm gonna watch as much Top Gear as I can! Mainly because I'm not a member of the "Chronically Offended Community".

A lot of you guys seem to be defending him but what happens when he takes the piss out of something that's dear to you? So it's all a big joke? Whilst have watched top gear a lot and actually think he's pretty funny in show but I prefer James May and the hamster I still think he's is arrogant and what you get off screen is a lot worse. Coming out and saying why do we need the welsh language etc etc is bang out of order... It's not about being offended I just think he's a dick and shouldnt get away with it. There's satire and there's being funny...and then there is being downright rude. He falls into the rude category...not all the time but he crosses the line. Plus racism if it's true is pretty piss poor I think. Anyways I'll continue to watch top gear with him in it and I do think it wouldnt be the same without him...doesnt change the fact for me he is an ass.
You mean like his constant bashing of Americans? I'm pretty sure that America is pretty dear to me. That said, I love Clarkson and luckily for me he won't ever change. Aside from that I agree with his point anyway. People that complain about the pension they get while most people have to actually save for retirement are ridiculous.

I agree with above, if Americans have to put up with the constant bashing of America then to hell with the rest of you. If there is one thing I hate it's idiots with "sensibilities" that ruin it for the rest of us.
I also think the American comments are funny. Like when they put those big honda outboard engines on the back of that small truck to turn it into a boat and he said it looked like there was an American sitting on the tailgate.

The BBC is so cautious not to offend anyone this is defiantly not the case. As for the presenters looking moronic, they do present The One Show after all...
