I noted a tremendous difference in crysis (very high 1080 4xaa). i mean, never below 65 its amazing, i could never play crysis with maximun settings at acceptable frames, now i can.

In fact i bought this 6850 crossfire after a video review of crysis with this setup.

i get really dissapointed when i used the phenom, with mins in 24.
Now im very happy. ... by the way, what is the better realistic graphics mod for crysis?

Heh Pill Monster i dont know what will convince you, but you said you get 50fps regardless of 3.4 or 3.7ghz.. I can tell you that adding another 6950 cf or waiting for a 7970 you will still be getting 50fps there with that cpu, its a combination of cores/clockspeed/cache/design etc.. end result still a cpu bottleneck on those minimum frame rates.

Huh..? I'm talking about single card not CFX..of course the CPU will bottleneck a CFX setup lol, no argument from me there..

Actually I just posted a reply to someone explaining that exact same thing in this thread....http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=4179044#post4179044

but would it mean that 2x6970 woukdn´t run optimal due to my i7 920 cpu?

@ op - you can get a much higher overclock from that CPU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:Edit: maybe I'm wrong about that after reading more of the posts - but surely it will go over 4 ghz???? :Edit:

Somebody who knows what they're talking about, at last.

The amount of times I've been flamed for stating (and proving) BF3 is in no way CPU limited.

Once you've a decently quick quad, the game runs just fine.

My guess is that as long as you OC your 920 it should be able to handle 2x6970s. 920 is still powerful :)

It is CPU limited on SLI & Crossfire rigs in multiplayer. Any overclocked quad can max out a single card. :wanker:

depending on the card it will be bottelneck also.

For example, my brother has a 5850 and a phenom II 955 BE @ 3.6 and gpu usage is 85 max in B3, a friend of mine has a 5850 and a i5 2500k@4.6~ and gpu usage is 99 in B3, i dont know if those numbers are for cpu bottleneck, but is worth mentioning.

    Settings?

My specs are the same as yours, well I have a 1090T @ 4GHz, and I can never seem to maintain 60fps.

All maxed out, including AA. That's very odd, we do seem to have essentially same specs...maybe you're subject to the crossfire not kicking in bug/glitch/thing/whatever? If that's still an issue, I don't know.

What GPU usage do you get across both cards?

Thank you for confirming that its not the game, its the multi-GPU setup.

It's not strictly multi gpu, as even a strong single card like the GTX580 is bottlenecked by slow cpu in multiplayer. Most other single cards reach a GPU wall before the CPU wall so you don't notice it.

Upgrade from a phenom X4 980 to a X6 1090T OCed to 4Ghz, What a difference on 64 players in caspian border!! Before I was running 35FPS min now im getting a 55FPS minimum! GPUs are now in their maximum load range!

    HERES THE CONCLUSION

64 players big map taxes on CPU more than you can think!!!

CPU usage with X4 = 95-100% all the time

    CPU usage with X6 = 80-90% !!!

    A 980 with one card has a 75% load.
Your CFX setup was taxing the CPU, nothing to do with the map.

this huge FPS bump was due to phenom's bottleneck. It does not apply for people with single card solution?

yeah 2600k is one bad-ass CPU! Seems like people have no problem ocing to 4.5Ghz
