How much of a frame rate drop in games can I expect (in general) going from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080 on my rig?

The higher resolution has about 18% more pixels that the GPU must calculate versus your old resolution, so maybe 4/5 of the framerate you had before.

but at that rez your less CPU limited

if i can play most things maxed at 60+fps at 1920x1200 then your system will be fine

I wanted to get a bigger monitor anyway...but ES5:Skyrim forced me to do it sooner. LOL!

I've been on a 1920x1200 27" for last 2 years with a lesser GPU than what I have now, and other than Crysis and Metro, performance loss was imperceptible. Now with a 570 even those games I can play at highest settings (maybe a little easy on AA).

In all my years of gaming, I consider the 27" monitor my best component upgrade ever, and having the most impact on my gaming experience. I think you will feel the same when you get yours.

    Thanks for the input.

I've had my 22" for a while now...and it's been great. But while playing some games, I always wanted it to be bigger, so I could feel a little more immersed in the game.

I thought about going with a 24", but then I was like...why not go noticeably bigger, if I'm spending the money.

haha, i had a 24inch and i thought that was too small. ended up buying a Panasonic 37inch IPS Panel TV. makes for some pretty darn immersive gaming in combination with a surround sound setup.

Ive got to agree on the 27in monitor.. I actually upgraded from a 23in, but the resolution stayed the same at 1920x1080.

But wow. Definitely much more immersive on the 27in.

So much so that Im really considering going for a 30in HD+.

I have a 24'' and was planning to do 30'' next, but they are still to expensive for a quality 30''.

For the price of a decent 30'' PC monitor, I could buy a 60'' Plasma TV.

I upgraded from 22 in to 27 in and it was the best component upgrade I have had in a while as well. You will enjoy it.

Do what I did.....get a Samsung TV....lol. I've got 21" LED (currently using), 22"LCD (has dead pixels) and 23" LCD (using as TV in bedroom) displays. Looking at moving in the coming months and will probably be going from the 21" LED to the 23" LCD. Wife said no to getting a 26" or 37"....lol

Damn...frame rate in BF3 dropped a little too much with the 27". Had to put some settings to "high". Had them all at "ultra" when I was at 1680x1050.

Wonder if I need to add another 570? LOL!
