They do... Intel is following the tick (Sandy Bridge) - tock (Ivy Bridge) scedule, with a new architecture and socket coming out every two years and a die shrink in the intervening years.
As Chillin said, they do... unless they delay even more now that they have no potential competition. Those of us with Nehalems or newer (who OC) aren't going to need an upgrade until whatever comes after Ivy Bridge anyway... or so it seems.
And the thing is that they have no incentive to delay Ivy Bridge, even without competition. Ivy Bridge will be cheaper for them to produce = Great profits.
^ this is how i feel however i have a itch to upgrade..was hoping BD would of been better or at least less power hungry but there seems no reason to upgrade from x58 just yet.
Well at the rate things are going i'm thinking. Stick with x6 till pci-e3.0 and change over to ivy bridge or go with PD if it succeeds.
Sounds like even the quad core will cost me my first born. Intel motherboards are expensive as is. If I can somehow fit the upgrade into my budget I may opt for this over Ivy Bridge. deltatux
Hopefully, DDR kits have never been so cheap, and with decent brand as G-Skill, Mushkin etc.. but well the 4 DDR kits are surely not the cheapest too. Socket 2011LGA should stay when IvyBridge will come, so then you can surely keep the motherboard for a while.
